Im really thinking about going to school for anthropology.

Hey, if you have a liking for it Boomz might not be a bad idea.

But you know I was just thinking. Knowing how you like the outdoors and stuff, I could kind of see you as an Indiana Jones kind of a guy with the get up and all. He was what?...a kind of archaeologist or something right?

Anyways, was just picturing you in the garb and the outdoorsy stuff...something to do with research and adventure.........

.........long as it have nuff beer around tho.

Its really interesting. I think that may be my only way to get a taste of the life style I'm craving.

Traveling is so damned expensive though. Its almost impossible for someone of my financial status to set out and just travel.

I think I'm fine where I am. I sort of like not being chased by wild animals and not having the average life expectancy to be around 35. :p

Yeah, but you gotta go to "historical" sites such as Spain's Anarchy Commune and Mussolini's Childhood Home.

Seriously though, that's flippin cool.
Nope, they turn you loose to do what you want, basically. I'm going to Germany next semester. I wish I could take you guys.

You could always look into something like a course teaching traditional skills just to learn the older ways of making stuff without the need for power tools. I'm sure that would be a good way to get an appreciation of the needed skills for such a lifestyle.

I would go to an abandoned building and build a fire inside. Then I would carve sticks into spears and hunt for tasmanian devils. Finally, I would return to the building and relax with my dinner and listen to the sound of the rain drops hitting the ground.

They reckon that in small groups of Hunters & Gatherers, you may have only needed to spent 5 hours or so actually working, but the work was very hard on the body. Hunting takes a lot of walking, climbing, running... etc as well as those intense few minutes that it takes to make the kill, but you still have to carry it back to camp & cut it up. There's also all the time required to keep your weapons sharp & in good order as well as build new ones.

Still sounds like a lot of work but less stress - mind you average lifespan was less than 45 years & that's provided you didn't hurt yourself during the hunt.

May have been better to go back only 13,000 years or so, after farming was invented & grow wheat for fermenting into beer - less intense & may have been better healthwise.

i don't necessarily think id want to live and "be one with nature" but sometimes I think about what my life would have been like in a simpler era...like the early 20th century or so
