Tolstoy's War and Peace. Finished it just before Christmas of last year. FANTASTIC!

It's awful... purely awful, he tries desperately to get some semblance of plot and character development and oh, sorry, it's personal opinion, I just have this thing about Tolstoy. Thank God for Chekhov I say :)

Deffinetly the best book ever is The Belgariad series by David Eddings its awesome ive read it like 4 times

I've read the illiad by Homer about 30 times... not saying that to show off, but to state that given that you may need to read something over and over, over an elongated period of time, before your true appreciation for a work can grow and grow.

My top 2:

Bible
Atlas Shrugged

The Bible I keep there because I'm still Christian, and It would feel really weird not mentioning it.

there are 5 books in the series so it takes a little longer to read them.

Gotta agree with BadBoy & Sparkey - 1984 by George Orwell. I didn't read it until about 4 years ago, and it instantly went into my top 5 books of all time. Also love Animal Farm.
The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King is another one of my favs.

Far too many to pick just one :D

You know, last time I tried to read 1984 it was when I wasn't a well read person so I didn't finish it. It was too slow. But since then I've read much slower and enjoyed it so I've been meaning to finish it.

Animal Farm is amazing though.

My favourite books? Er...
Salvador Plascencia - The People of Paper
A really touching, original (yes, gimmicky but I love gimmicks if they're done well), book about heart break, among other things. Love this book.

Mark Danielewski - House of Leaves
Another gimmicky book. He did a lot of things in this book that I wanted to do so I love/hate it.

Flann O'Brien - The Third Policeman
Weird... and now I can't look at bikes the same way.

Kurt Vonnegut - Breakfast of Champions
Okay, it's hard to pick a favourite Vonnegut. But I like this one a lot even though it's more of a straight comedy than his others and because of the last act... which is.. pretty crushing.

Alan Moore/Dave Gibbons - Watchmen
Greatest graphic novel ever...

Grant Morrison/Dave McKean - Batman: Arkham Asylum
...but this one is really great too.

I have such a hard time picking favourite anything. Like, I know I'm missing something and I'll come back later and add it/them.
