The way i was brought up is, if you stay home from school then your not fit to do anything else. if you can go out in the rain, then you can just as easily go to school. it sucks but it makes sense to me now

He's 3? Then I say let him stay home. It's not like real school anyway.

Oh yeah... if hes only 3 I would let him stay home too. I did that with my son in pre-k last year. If he was having a bad morning, or just wanted to stay home every now and then I would let him stay home. The only bad thing about that ( I am learning this now ) is when they start Kindergarten they think they can do that then too. And, being that Kindgergarten is a "real school" and its something that really gets counted for, I cant just let him stay home anytime he wants...but he looks at as "You let me do it last year, how come I cant do it now"

But I think he needs to know that school is something he will have to do and won't be able to skip when he doesn't feel like it. It's better he starts by now.

Yeah... I hear ya on that one too. But being a mom, time goes by WAY too fast when they are little. And thinking back on it now, I wish I would have taken my little one out of pre-k more, just to spend some more time with him. They are going to have the rest of their lives to "have to" do things.

I can agree with that, but I think letting him stay could mean problems telling him the opposite in the future and that's why I said that :)
