So it's been exactly 1 week and 2 days since I last had a cigarette. My last one was right before I went into the hospital. I know that the addiction part is gone...and now it's just all mental. Most of the time I really don't want one. But there are times where I feel I need to have one. And it's also really hard b/c I don't have that escape when I get frustrated...I've been having a lot of ups and downs with my hormones trying to calm themselves. But I'm going to do my best...until i'm put into the mental hospital. lol

Pop a piece of gum or some hard candy in your mouth when you have the craving. I know you can do it. You have willpower in you I am sure.

Ah, well good luck.
I've never really understood addictions though, I smoke, I drink, I occasionally delve into the recreational drug or two, but nothing has ever been close to an addiction.

yeah it was shitty. Why would you ask a stupid question when you know the obvious answer? I guess he is lucky doctor.

That's so awesome that you're trying to quit!

I've heard people say they like having something in their hands or mouth to distract them or something. If you buy a big bag of dum-dums or some other lollipops, then you'll have something to hold and put in your mouth.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!

Hi Alicia.

Well done you for getting this far.

Chewing gum will help (best to have sugar free though).

Sorry to hear your hormones are playing you up too. They do take time to settle, but I think that the kind of person you are, they will soon subside. By that I mean, as you are an outgoing person normally and very bubbly and funny. You'll be OK, even if it takes a little while. :)

Take care and get rest/sleep at every opportunity that baby allows.

On a happier note, I have to say Alicia, that that is such a precious avy you have. Your pride and joy he is and you and Tim will be his pride and joy too. :)

Good luck to you! Nicotine inhalers are the best thing I've found. I gave up once by going cold turkey but started again 10 years later, I tried to give up again and failed but the inhalers were the best thing I found, good luck!:)

I have heard this Peter, that ppl give up for 10 yrs, then they go back on the cigs again, after all that time.

I have gone 6yrs and did it on patches. Hope I don't start again after 10 - going solo with it is the hardest way to do it. I couldn't do it that way at all.

To be honest I went back because I wanted to. I find them calming and helpfull. I'm quite prepared for the way they might kill me but I'll probably die of something else first, the way I live my life. I just wont moan if its what kills me. To be honest, I take a lot after my grandad, he was Glasweigan, smoked like a chimney, smoked like a fish, worked down a coal mine from when he was 10 and was on the fronts in the second world war. He spent most of his life saying he would be dead tomorrow, he lived to be 91!

Hey girl how are you doing today with the no smoking?

You can do it. The freedom from not smoking is wonderful. You will get there, just keep going.

There are a lot of other ways to handle frustration in a much healthier fashion, the more more you practice different techniques, the more they will become 2nd nature to you.

I'm so happy for you.

Stay quit. You can do it!
