I haven't really been on a REAL vacation (aka on a plane or far, far away) in a long time..like since I lived with my parents and didn't have to pay for anything...so I don't really know how much spending money I'm going to need on my vacation. I don't want to have to be TOO frugal, I want to have fun...but I don't want to waste money either. What do yall think is a good amount to take on a 7 day vacation? Meals are included already so don't account for food money.

i used to sell cruises for a living (all inclusive ie:food) and we'd still recommend at least $75 a day...it also depends on what you wanna do while on vacation. where are you going for your honeymoon?

on a cruise with Royal Caribbean. We fly to Ft. Lauderdale and then cruise down to Georgetown, Grand Cayman, and then to Ochos Rios, Jamaica. So $75 a day for each person? or as a couple? So $1500 would be plenty then. Good. I was thinking I'd probably spending at least $40 on alcohol alone each day lolol.

I went on a cruise a few weeks ago, and took $5,000AUD spending money...which was also used to pay for things like diving gear rental, and activities etc when we pulled into the various ports...

WOW thats a lot of money! $4,132.50!!! Was that your money alone, or money for you and your family?? Did you use all of it?? Our port activities are only going to be about $300 and we are prepaying those.

It was just my personal spending money. I spent every last cent of it...and probably would have spent more if I'd have taken my savings card. *blush* I did do ALOT of shopping, though. (and paid the duties on it when I returned to Oz.)

I'm too paranoid to sneak shit onboard!!! Well I know i can sneak shit on board, but im more paranoid about the airport back in ft lauderdale. We haven't booked the excursions yet but we have an idea of which we want to do, we might book them tomrorow, btu we might also just do them and pay on the spot, in case we decide last minute we just want to walk around the towns or something instead. Here's the excursions we want to do:

In Grand Cayman, either one of these, we haven't decided yet:
Embrace the SEA SPI experience through the viewing glass of your revolutionary electric personal watercraft. Guests of all ages and abilities will enjoy a tour on the whisper quiet Sea Spi. Glide undetected through tropical waters, above the reef and schools of fish and coral, seeking the sights below, from sea turtles to nurse sharks and stingrays. Single and double models available. Wear your swimsuit and don’t forget your sun protection.
$79pp
OR
The Grand Cayman Thriller Boat is ready to give you an adrenaline rush as you feel the power of the engines of this off shore racing boat pull away from the dock. See a view of Cayman that you’ll want to cherish. A stop is made at beautiful Sea Grape Beach on famous Seven Mile Beach. Minimum age to participate is 6 years old. Pregnant guests and guests with back injuries should not participate.
$74pp

then in Ochos Rios we are definitely doing this:
The “Zion Bus Line” will take you on a tour to the birthplace and final resting place of Bob Marley. This tour has been specifically designed for Reggae Enthusiasts and hardcore Bob Marley fans, who would like to visit the “Graceland” of Reggae. Enjoy an IRIE Rum Punch and an authentic Jamaican lunch treat. Due to the cultural content of this tour, the min. age for participation is 18 years of age.
$79pp
matt is hoping to taste some genuine jamaican herb at this one lol.

You should be ok. I see they changed the date, once again to Jan. 2008 for cruises. They are funny. They have been saying this for 2 years now. You will need your birth certificates though.

It depends where you're going and for how long, but I have gone for very little money. I guess it all changes when you want to go to a nice hotel and not camping.

We are only doing the Carribean, so we don't need our passports (verified by the cruise company), but I am packing my BC and SS card just in case we get stuck in Jamaica or something and need to get back in to the US (that's not going to happen of course, but as I always say, expect the best, plan for the worst).

I would go to the local Health Department and pick up a copy of your BC if I were you .. I wouldn't take the only one I had. A copy is only like $12. You can get a duplicate SSC for free I beleive, or at least here it is.
