First off, awesome thread idea!
Alright, well, I consider myself to be a musician. I've been playing piano since I was like 5, and I've been taking it seriously ever since I was about 10. I'm actually playing in a PTSA (Piano Teacher's Society of America) sponsored competition this Sunday. If I win in my category, I'll be playing in the Winner's Recital in Carnegie Hall for the second year and a row. I've been working on a Khatchatorian Tocatta for the past couple of months, as well as Bach's 9th Sinfonia, in B Minor. You know, the kind of stuff thats really fast and really loud, and sounds really difficult, but isn't that bad

Maybe when I get my recording equipment up I'll record some repetoir and post it up, if you guys are interested.
And I've been playing trumpet seriously since I started, about 6 years ago. I just got a teacher about 9 months ago. He's amazing: he auditioned for the New York Philharmonic a couple years back, and he was ranked as about 8th best out of the thousands that tried out from all around the world. The New York Phil is debatably (and I believe to be) the greatest orchestra in the world, so, he's essentially one of the top 10 classical trumpeters in the world. Thats a small exageration
But over my studies with him, he's helped me through an embauchure adjustment and development, as well as mental conditioning and lots of other stuff. I auditioned for North New Jersey Regional Band and Orchestra last January, and ranked somewhat favorably, within the top quarter. I'm also planning on auditioning for the NJ Youth Symphony this Fall, as well as doing a lot of other stuff.
In my school's Wind Symphony, I'm ranked second chair, next to a fantastic trumpeter, ranked third best High School trumpeter in New Jersey. I'm also second in the Jazz Band (which last night at a festival, we recieved best trumpet section and an overall gold rating

), as well as playing for the Musical in the Pit Orchestra.
But yes, thank you if you actually read all of this. I rarely get a chance to rant on and on about my music life, so I hope you understand the large amount of text
