OK so today I went to Robins bros to look at wedding rings. At first I thought i wanted an enhancer, because i wanted both rings saudered together and wanted them to fit together like a puzzle...but today unfortunately I found out that since I have a cathedral setting in my engagement ring (the band is raised up with the diamond), that is not possible. So my other option is to do a plain simple band (yuck, not me!), or to just buy a whole new setting and get my diamond moved into that, and use the engagement band i have now as either a setting for another stone for a right hand ring, or i could get it melted into a plain band to wear as a wedding ring. Confusing I know! Damn me being so picky! I wouldn't mind the band with another ring, but having just a plain band with a just plain solitaire is just too...well..plain! Here is the ring i have:

and here is the ring i want my stone to be moved to, if i go that route: (I LOVE this ring!)

Hi Clare.

Well, if it was me, I would not alter it at all and have a patterned (diamond cut effect maybe) wedding ring.

I know, that after a while, it wld more than likely be a case of you wishing you hadn't had it messed around with.

I took a ring to a jewellers once - they messed it up, lied to me how it had bn done, then cldn't wear it again.

They denied all responsibility, even though they were a 'reputable' jewellers.

I regretted it ever since.

I think it could take away the beautiful look of the ring, Clare. It's gorgeous - careful you dnt get it ruined like I did.

Hope this is a help, rather than a hinderance?

By patterned, I mean like erm...

Hang on, I will go onto a jewellers website and get the link for ya to look at.

That'll be easier I think, but with pasting and copying, will take me a few mins.

Hang on, I'll get bk to ya. That's if they have them of course. Shld do, they are popular here.

This ring is not exactly like I was talking about, but hopefully gives you an idea.

Strangely enough, I couldn't find one like I was trying to describe. This is similar though.

I wouldn't change your engagement ring at all!! I think that you can still get a really beautiful wedding band if you look around. My engagement ring is a single stone with a tiffany setting and then my wedding ring are flowers and vines that are diamonds. The 2 of them go so beautiful together. It's not just your engagement ring but a symbol of the love you guys share...that why he picked it out just for you...even if it was a ring out of a crackerjack box it should never be replaced. :)

im just pissed that i THOUGHT i could get an enhancer ring put with this ring when i bought it...i asked these people, and they told me yes, and come to find out it's not true...that is what i had envisioned, and the only reason i wanted a solitaire in the first place. Basically my other option is to just get a plain band, or a band with some pave or channel set diamonds. I just want it to look like a big pretty ring. maybe im concerned too much with the looks? i dunno.

If a wedding ring and engegement ring are to be meant to be worn to look as though they fir into eachother, they are sold as a pair in the 1st place.

You were lied to because jewellers are desparate to sell certain jewellery, more than other jewellery.

They are greedy salespeople, jewellers and will say anything for a sale - more commission for them selling single items rather than as a pair!

There's nothing wrong in wanting a good looking ring at all - that's all part of it, to wear that symbol the way you want it, but it really isn't worth you changing such a gorgeous engagement ring, ruining it in the process, just to have it look a certain way. Things are just meant to be - browse the shops, look around a few - even in another town if needs be. You will definately find the wedding ring you are after - don't rush it, it's meant to be worn for many years, so you want the right one.

I think you really need to take yr mind off the enhancer idea - it just won't work. You will be so done in when you get it bk and see it's not how you imagined.

this one is nice because of the way the setting is raised up a little in the middle...it looks like it might match well with my engagement ring

Ah right - well they look really nice - is yr ring white gold or platinum? I just posted that gold ring for the idea, but whatever you choose, it will be cause you love it and that's how it should be at the end of the day.:)

I s'pose if I were to have white gold, then it wld be something like this one. Kind of what I was looking at in the yellow gold rings.

those last ones are really pretty. I want BLING though :D

Ha ha - you like ya bling eh girl.

I like my bling too, but for me, I like it in an engegement ring then wedding ring like the yellow gold above.

Wedding rings with bling are really popular these days aren't they? I suppose I wouldn't have one cos to me, it wouldn't show it was a wedding ring I s'pose, but that's just my choice.

hmm.. Whilei know you have to wear this for the rest of your life, I agree you should like it. But honestly I think it would be disrespectful of the 'meaning' if you got a new ring. The meaning and memories behind the ring is what should make it beautiful and allow you to love it, not just what it looks like.
