carbon monoxide is the spent gas of a combustion that's already taken place between gas and air, it's not going to explode when a flame is introduced, at least not in this sense.

Anything cooked. Which reminds me, we might have to go to my parents since I have no water... or a clean place to cook.

I go to my parents to take a shower and brush my teeth. He goes to his old roommates house.

have you ever known anyone to die of carbon monoxide poisoning? I'm just wondering how common it actually is.

Yes, when our hamsters time was up we used to put it in a carboard box and attatch it to an exhaust pipe and give it a blast. It's a relatively painfree way to put a small animal down.
