Does a thread without much beginning topic piss you off?

The reason I ask this is because Ive pissed people off with my style of starting topics in the past, and I just want to know what people here think about that...

here are my views:

the more loose a topic is when it is started the less people are likely to bitch about the fact that it goes off topic. some of the best conversations on a message board are the ones that have nothing to do with the OP's topic so I often will post topics with very little solid topic to it at all...

but for some people that pisses them off... it gets them irritated and they end up hating me at which point I usually end up having a wonderful debate with them in one of the topics where the conversation goes on forever... little do they know I started at least one decent topic because they helped it along :\

so what are your opinions? please vote

Either way i get to post, and be satisfied, off or on topic, if you want to be vauge great, easier for me to make up my own opionion, and if you want to be on point even better, cause ill still get my two scents in

true... but my off topic stuff isnt exactly PWing... plus the pw thread does not split conversations up... so essentially it's only as good as a chatroom that you can scroll back on and you have to wait 30 seconds between posts

that's a great point! and I used to be really bad about these kinds of things. but generally I never start a new random topic until I am bored with the last one which I give every random pointless topic time to grow before I decide I am bored... so this wont be a prollem

By the time you get to type another post out, it wld normally take more than 30 secs to do so. Plus, I still think yr posts are PW posts.

I am not the only one who has posted about this.

Ask the others' too - I said it cos PW thread is where the random posts go - yrs are pretty random, that's all. Not a problem.

to address everyone

im still curious... I mean it looks like the vote is pretty close showing that less people get pissed off than dont but at the same time they are pretty even with a prefrence of ontopic... at 2 to 3 yet still it seems 3 of the 5 voters say they prefer on topic posts.

the thing is if you consider that 2 out of 11 people prefer off topic posts (note the name of this board btw... one of the reasons I am here is because of the name)

and at the highest vote saying that they do piss people off of 2 (and one of those votes are a misvote by myself)

that means at the least there are an equal amount of people (out of the 11 voters) who prefer what pisses other people off... on top of that... most off topic posts are pretty much going to be visible from the title so that equal amount of people who are pissed off could avoid those posts

this was the big side behind all of this just wanted to do it proper with math and statistics and all...

I wish more people would vote and give an opinion or 2 though this has been an enjoyable discussion for me hope it has for you all as well

yeah I usually try to start a topic like this every time I join a new board because it gives me a really good chance to get to know how people react socially to the way I post

plus who knows my off topic topics might end up being good maybe even you will love em ya never know

It's ok re yr posts - just diff to what we have bn doing since and before I joined. I haven't bn here that long myself - only just under 4 months. It wasn't long after I joined that they realized I was a 'chatterbox', as I am nicknamed - I did warn em at the beginning lol
