As some of you know, since Sept I found out that I have Graves Disease (which is a form of hyperthyrodism) and have been going to a specialist, endocrinologist every 2 wks (which is an hr away from home which stinks) For the past 6 months, I have been on 4 different kinds of medicines to try to get my thyroid levels down to "normal". When I first found out that I had Graves Disease, the dr told me that my levels were so incredibly that they they didnt even record on the charts (which he said I could have went into a thyroid storm) Thank god I didnt because he says thats very critical. Im just glad that I caught it in time before it got carried away.
Anyways, I had another appt this morning and this time I actually dont go back for another 6 weeks and thats when they are going to FINALLY to do the radioactive iodine treatment, I am so ready to get this process over with.
Funny thing the dr said to me this morning. He told me that with all the blood they took again this morning, that he is going to run a pregnancy test to make sure that Im not pregnant before they do the radioactive iodine treatment. I laughed out loud, he gave me a funny look. I told him he can run 3 pregnancy tests and I can bet you a $1,000,000 that every single one would come back negative. I told him you have to be exposed to get pregnant. I actually got a chuckle out of him.lol

Good luck with the radioactive iodine! My aunt had it done and she's said that it's not too bad. I'm still trying to figure out why my TSH levels are high.

Stay strong!

Oh definately! Without a doubt. I think so far the only thing I am soooo sick and tired of, is getting my blood taken every 2 wks since September. That get REAL old real quick. But hey, I can now say that I am use to getting my blood taken now as to where I use to be terrifed so bad that I had to lay down before. Now I can let them take my blood standing up. No problemo!

After my surgery, I had my blood taken four times in less than a day. After the second time, I would just stick my arm out every time a nurse walked in the room.

Is this like little blood samples? My freind is a dieabetic(sp) type 1. He has to check his blood like 5-10 times a day.

Each time they have taken it, it has been no less than 6 vials of tubes. Let me see if I can remember what they take each time.......Hepatic liver profile, TSH, Free T4, WBC, always an XTRA Vial, and I cant remember the other one.
