When was the last time you did something above and beyond for a complete stranger just because you were being nice?
I don't mean holding a door open for the person behind you, or saying thank you. I mean something that stopped that person in their tracks and make them scratch their head in amazement.

I find that people are so quick to yell and scream at strangers (like when you are driving) or judge them based on a 20 word news article. These are things you see everyday, but it's very hard to find someone that does something for a stranger without expecting something in return.

My story:

The other day I was buying my lunch at Wawa (local convienience store/deli) and the gentleman in front of me had all his items rang up, you could tell it was his lunch also. Well, he realizes after it was rung up that he didn't have his wallet. He asked if the cashier would hold onto his stuff for about a half hour until he could run home and get his wallet. At that point I told the cashier to just add it to my total, I would buy it for him. Niether he nor the cashier believed me at first, I had to repeat myself. Hell, it wasn't that big of a deal, plus I know what it's like to have that happen to me. Well he took his lunch and thanked me.
I didn't think it was that big of a deal. Why is it so hard for people to believe that someone is being nice, just for the sake of being nice?

OK, what's your stories... I want to hear about you doing something nice for a stranger or even about a stranger doing something above and beyond for you.

I was at Wal-Mart once and was in the toys section (yes, I was looking for toys for my kids... not for me) and there was a lady in front of me who had her child standing in the buggy. I noticed the kid leaning up against the front area of the buggy and I said to him "Be careful little dude!" About that time he flipped over the rail and was on a fast track to a split noggin causing head dive straight to the floor. Somehow, without even thinking about it first, I launched forward and caught the kid right before his head hit the ground. The kid started crying and about that time the mother realized what had almost happened. I handed the kid to her, commented on how that scared the hell out of me, and she thanked me. I think she was a bit embarrased and was probably waiting for me to lash out at her about how she shouldn't let her kid stand up in the buggy or that she should watch him more closely. But I didn't do that.

i hate to see people in that situation ive done that more than once.

and i know ya mean though. people are quick to accept that your pissed at them or being mean. but when your being genuinly nice they question it like its some kind of alien concept. i''m no saint but i try to be nice to everybody.

i was at Wal-Mart one night and 2 high school girls who were going to some sorta ring dance or some shit was buying something (i cant remember what it was) but they were a couple bucks short so i gave it to them and they thanked me and the cashier commented to them on how i nice i was and that you dont meet people like him (referring to me of course) every day. it made me happy that i did something so simple and got commented on doing something positive for someone else.

It was Thanksgiving afternoon and I was at work. Place was busy as usual and I noticed this elderly husband and wife come in. Dont know if they were there visiting someone or what. But you could just tell that they hadnt had a Thanksgiving lunch and probably more than likely wasnt going to. They were pitiful. So I went down to the cafeteria and bought them 2 dinners and brought them back to them. The looks on their faces was all I needed.

2 days ago I found some old drunk on a park bench when I was walking my dog in the night. If he had stayed there he would have froze to death or got mugged. He had a brother who lives just down the road so I helped him round to there.

two weekends ago we got a good bit of snow and there were a bunch of people stranded at the bottom of a large hill going ot a lodge for an event. I had four wheel drive and was going to the same place. I spent about and hour shuttling strangers up the hill .

Lmao Alicia

Bout this time last year, When I was at work, had this girl parked in front of the store.. you could tell she was pretty upset, then she came in went to the Restroom, came back out.. she had been crying pretty Hard, turns out she was from Moab, Utah .. Couple hundred miles.. and she had been up camping, and got lost on her way home, was almost out of gas, and all she had was her Checkbook. Of course we cant take a check from out of state like that.
so we called the grocery store, they said they would take a check from moab.. so she went back there, a bit later she shows back up, turns out the Store told her they would take the check, but they would not accept her utah Id.. Der...
So I let her Write a check to me, for the gas and something to eat, and then I paid for her purchase.. I figured even if the check turns out bad, at least I know she made it home.

I have also had a couple of times where somebody would come in .. have only like 2 bucks for gas, and they would be headed home to Delta ( bout 80 miles) , I have given them money for gas, because 2 bucks was not even go to give them a gallon, and that would not even get them half way there.

A couple of months ago, I was getting out of my car to go into Safeway (grocery store) and I saw this guy getting into his car. His passenger-side rear tire was totally flat. He backed up and started driving down my aisle when I stopped him. He spoke only broken English, mostly Spanish. I understand some Spanish, so I told him his tire was flat. He said, "Oh no, what I'm I going to do?" His car looked kind of beat up, but I asked him if he had a spare tire and a jack. He said he didn't know, so I looked; he had a spare tire, but no jack. So I got my jack out of my trunk and changed his tire for him.
He was from out of town, so I told him where the nearest tire store was, (actually just a couple of blocks away.) I told him I would drive over there and he could follow me. I drove slow because sometimes you can't trust spare tires. Anyway, we got there and he felt so relieved, his eyes started to water. **(Note: people who start to cry make me feel like crying; in a happy way, though.)
