Coming home from Gregs I was the only car on the road (right around 3 am). I'm getting ready to light a cigarette doing (I THINK) around 42-45ish in a 40. I don't know.

All of a sudden there's a car ahead of me coming the other way and my radar detector went insane with Ka band.

So I look at my speed and it says 40.

Um ok... Well, as he passes me I see his brake lights come on. Was I going to get pulled for 5 over? I don't know.

I saw him turn into the park (not sure if he was making a U-turn, or going in to sit and clock). So I hightailed it, made a right, onto another arterial, then a left into a residential neighborhood. From there I just kinda cruised around 25-30 (Speed limit was 30, and it was 3 am... so relax)

I somehow mentioned to go from the E-W route I was on, to another E-W route about a mile north of there.

So if he was turning around to grab me, he lost me. and I never actually sped to 'evade'.

I doubt he got my plate, but I don't think I have much to worry about anyway. Too dark and he went by too fast. Otherwise there would probably have been a knock on the door already.

I dunno. That shit just pisses me off. What's the point of clocking someone on an empty road when someone isn't driving erratically anyway? I understand he's just doing his job, but when they suddenly flip on their radars like that, that bullshit is fucking annoying and it ALWAYS makes me jump.

Driving is a PITA to me now, I'm always paranoid with "if I pass this car, am I going to get clocked doing 10 over?" or "will the cop care if I do 5 over, or would I get pulled?" A lot of times it just depends on the temperment of the donut hog behind the wheel at the time I guess.

I'm just kind of rambling now...

I'm going to school for law enforcement.

I know how you feel though. I went down a frontage road going about 60 in a 35. I see a cop and pass him. at that time I was saying to myself. "fuck, i'm screwed. I was waiting for the cop to turn on his lights and come pull me over, but he didn't do anything. I was like wth?

unless one has something to hide i think making turns to evade is just going to make him all the more think your drunk or up to something bad , if it were me i would have just gone strait with fingers crossed , now don't worry be happy and maybe he'll just go away.;) .

Radar detectors are illegal in Australia, but I know what you mean. I hate it when a cop sits on your tail - just the other day I was teaching my daughter to drive, we had L plates on the car, & a cop followed us for about 4 kilometers - she did well, though.

you seem a bit paranoid james. Were you drunk?

Uh? I don't drive drunk. I was tired, and I got tagged by his radar instantly which scared the piss out of me. I was literally shaking last night after that. I had no idea if he was actually coming after me.

I just hate cops, I cannot afford to get anymore tickets. But on the other side when I sit my ass right at the speed limit I get tailgated constantly.

It's either I speed up so people stay off my ass, or I go the speed limit and not worry about tickets.

no need to get defensive, I was just asking. I hate cops too, but it is a rare occasion that I get on the road and don't see one, so I guess they don't really phase me much. My radar goes off alll the time.

You were shakin after getting lit up doing possibly 45 in a 40??? If it shakes you up that bad, just turn the damn thing off. Why do you even have it on if you aren't speeding? You would be hard pressed to find a cop that will give you a ticket for goin 5mph over the limit. And even if he did, the judge wouldn't hold it up in court.

In all honesty, he was probably just hoping to find a DUI, and had it established that you were not drunk would have let you off.

When I worked at the Bar, I used to get pulled over at least twice a month when I was on my way home... Only ride on the road at 4am. I never got a ticket, they were just always looking for drunks.

One officer even told me that was the only reason he pulled me over. I never stressed on it, I knew I was not doing anything wrong, and I never got ticketed for any of the petty Bs excuses they used to pull me over.

I can't afford to lose my license, and I hate being in trouble. I've been there, I don't want to do it again. and yes, I have known people here who were tagged, pulled, and ticketed for 5 over. It's mostly the county that does that, but none the less...

I use my detector to know when I'm being clocked. I speed, but not that much. I'll do 5-10 over depending on what road I'm on and what time of day it is. But when a cop is wandering around with his radar in I want to know.

Like last night leaving Gregs house, right on his road a Sheriff passed by with his radar on. I like to know When and where since a lot of times I can't pay all that much attention to cops because of traffic/looking for addresses/getting another job over the phone/etc.

Tickets and asshole cops ruined driving for me.

If I was that worried about it, I would just never speed. People somehow feel like they really get places so much faster by speeding, when in reality it rarely cuts off more than a minute or two off your time, depending on how far you are going. I just never really speed, or if I do its not more than 2-3 miles over, which they won't even bother pulling over for. My boyfriend speeds occasionally but thats why he has a radar detector. I dunno personally I've never gotten a speeding ticket or been pulled over because I just drive at what the posted speed is.

I have been Lucky.. every time I have been pulled over for speeding, I usually get a warning.. Or several times they have warned me and given me a ticket for not wearing a seat belt.. Which I will take the seatbelt ticket rather then lose my license for speeding.

But I just drive fast..I am guilty of usually pushing a minimal of I0 over

I don't know if this is a Canadian thing...

But in general, unless you're in a school zone, you'll NEVER get ticketed for going ten over. It's a given that you'll go about ten over the speed limit at almost any time. I mean, most people will slow down in front of a cop, that's a given, but you would never get ticketed for doing ten over. It's just accepted; speed limits are rough estimates... haha.

Over everything else, I just want to keep my streak going. It's been 6 years this month since I've gotten a ticket and I want to keep it that way. I drive for a living, so doing anything stupid on the road is pretty much in my past. I cannot afford to lose my license. I love having my own truck, and my car would essentially be useless and a waste of money if I had no license.

What freaked me out the most was that I was just driving normally and then just FULL bar Ka band. The detector scares the hell out of you, let alone the notion of 'hey he's looking to pull me and I'd be in trouble." I thought I was ok until I saw him kinda hit the brakes a few times, and then pull into the park. I didn't know if he was turning around or just going to go in and sit there to clock others.

It was 3 am and I just wanted to go home, I probably wasn't thinking too clearly, but I'd been up for 20 hours.

J ust that night, I saw the sheriff clocking on Gregs road, then him going down this road clocking me.

There is this town right down the road from where I grew up that was at one time in the top 10 worst towns to speed in. I got a ticket there for going 2 over.

Right behind where I live now there is a road with a speed limit of 40. at the very end of the road there is a hill and right over the top is a 25mph sine. I had been driving the road for years and had never noticed it because the red light is visible from there. one day I was driving down the road at 40 mph noticed the cop clocking and never slowed down. wrote me a ticket for 40 in a 25 and never knew I was speeding. I wanted to fight it but couldn't afford to take off work for court.

back about 6 years ago I was getting off work around 2 in the morning. there was no one on the road and I came to a red light. a cop pulls up across from me while I was waiting there. In my half asleep daze I thought I saw the light turn green and took off while it was still red. The cop never even flashed his lights or anything.
