We had a get together with some family today at the house for an early birthday dinner for my husband. Everything was going great. Everyone was in good spirits and it was a nice day outside. All the kids decided to go outside and ride the go cart and swing when it about 15 min later my 7 yr old Ashlynn comes running in the house screaming bloody murder. She said a wasp stung her on her pinky. She has never been stung by a wasp, neither have I. So I am just frightened for her. Within 5 min, her pinky was swollen about the size of a grown mans thumb and red. I had to run her to the ER cause I didnt have a clue if she was allergic to wasps or not. They gave her a benadryl shot and some other kind of shot. I cant remember. But she has been sound asleep since about 6pm. Bless her heart. :(

she'll be fine if you're allergic anyone i've seen got the hives all over their body, so chances are she would have been fine, i'll never foreget when Bacon at arould 12 got stung and had hives all over i couldn't get him to the hospital fast enough so i know how you felt.

Luke... where did you get that information from? The venom is injected as soon as the stinger penetrates the skin. Just because it will likely break off doesn't mean it will poison her. Her body's immune system will handle the stinger just fine if it isn't removed.

I don't know what wasps from the US's stings are like but here in England our wasp stings are painful but not really dangerous unless you're allergic to them. Our Bee stings are a lot worse but they rarely sting as it kills them. Our wasps are most likely to sting in autumn because they eat rotting, fermenting apples, get pissed and then randomly attack people. When I was a kid one drunk wasp flew in my ear and stung me repeatedly, it was bloody painful!:mad:
