first let me state I'm not sure where to put this...but does anyone know if a landlord is responsible for fixing a dishwasher too if it came with the apt.?

It differs from state to state. You can look here Connecticut Law About Landlord/Tenant Law this should give you all the information you need.

After reading it through, look at this section #4 it says that the landlord is responsible for the upkeep of plumbing.

It's good to have a copy of the landlord/tenant act, which you can get from your local state representative free of charge.

check your contract. if it states that all the appliances are your responsiblity, ... your crapped out, but if your contract says that you are responsible for any appliances you bring into the apartment, then i would think that the landlord would be responsible for the diswasher.

its all about the contract and the law.

Yes. Yes, and YES. he is.

But consult your lease agreement. If it's the landlords property, it is usually the landlords responsibility.

I did forget to mention the fact that if it says anywhere in your lease that you (the tenant) are responsible for fixing the appliances, and you signed it, then the landlord tenant act doesn't mean crap. So check your lease agreement first. If it doesn't say anything along those lines, then he IS responsible according to the law in your state.

lol... ok so I asked my bf about it when he got home from work last night...told him the dishwasher wasnt working... and umm yeah .... I've been here 2 years and never knew there was a light switch controling power to the dishwasher behind our coffee pot... yeah so my bf had turned it off a few days ago .... dont know why.... but umm... yeah like I said turns out thats all that was wrong...I just needed to flip that lil' ole' switch :p


But thank you all for your help ...and suggestions...I could probably use those in the future anyways.... for now I just feel a lil' sheepish
