At the very outset it seems to be a fake because nothing can be made from 24 carat gold which is overly soft, has no malleability or ductile strength.
I too got astonished to see the price..$1 Million is hella lotsa money to waste on a golden bike..maybe some Arab sheik go for it//there is no dearth of crazy people on earth!!

I can see your point about it being to soft. Could always just be coated in 24 karat gold

It's a wall hanger for sure because of it's price, but it's overlaid gold on the bike's metalwork, not solid gold.

That reminds me there was a freestyle bike from Hutch when I was young that was gold plated

Woody Itson and his 24k gold plated Hutch Trick Star supposedly went for $3200 in 1980's

Probably some sort of trophy or something.... they will put gold leaf on just about anything... I mean why would someone by a gold and diamond encrusted iphone case? Other than just being able to. Guess someone may consider it art or a novelty item.
