What is holding people back from the life that they truly want to live?

I’d say that one very common and destructive thing is that they think too much.

They overthink every little problem until it becomes bigger and scarier and it actually is. Overthink positive things until they don’t look so positive anymore.

Or overanalyze and deconstruct things and so the happiness that comes from just enjoying something in the moment disappears.

Now, thinking things through can be a great thing of course. But being an overthinker can result in becoming someone who stands still in life. In becoming someone who self-sabotages the good things that happen in life.

I know. I used to overthink things a lot and it held me back in ways that weren’t fun at all.

The topic is 'Overthinking'' and NOT 'critical thinking'...which is off topic.

It seems you are ever ready to spoil my threads and perhaps it's because of your quarrelsome nature that others keep away from my page. I suggest that you float your own thread on any topic that bugs you...or let others have their say on my threads...

A dog in the manger seems to have been coined to describe situation stated above.............

No, it's not off topic at all.
It's a way to avoid 'overthinking' and placing emphasis on emotional feelings.

Like what you are doing right now.

This is where critical thinking would be of value to you.
First, rule out the fact that you hate me.
This eliminates a great amount of emotional conflict you have when faced with reality.
Now consider how many threads of yours I've entered.
Then consider that in my posts, I've been responding to your claims in threads you've started.
In the debate forum, naturally, I gave credible sources for my comments.

In this thread, you present 'overthinking' as a trait that in many ways is inefficient and nonproductive in our lives.

I'm merely pointing out in a friendly manner, critical thinking is a solution that resolves these mental lock ups that plague you.

I don't know what that means.

I don't know what that means.

regret I don't find anything substantial and logical in your reply fit to be discussed with you...

Thanks for the honesty about being ignorant on the subject.

Well, not entirely.
It is an element as I just demonstrated with your angst against me.
When you relax that built in emotion, reality becomes clearer and inner tensions further reduced.
I think there is actually a strong connection between overthinking and emotionalism.
Perhaps each drive the other higher in anxiety, and overthinking leans toward irrational conclusions. Unhappyness.

Critical thinking won't bring happiness, but it should exclude the confusion of overthinking/emotionalism that can bring unhappiness.

What, I've made no mention of your personal desires. Nothing against your culture in this thread.
I truly think critical thinking would help .

you aren ot giving chance to others to come here and have their say..This attitude is referred to as 'dog in the manger' policy
I haven't stopped any one from posting their opinions. To the contrary, you are demanding I not post my opinions about overthinking.

If you look back to the start of this thread, I've been civil to to and posted nothing to discredit your character.
But look at the nasty things you focus at me all because you hate me from the debate forum.

Sincerely, check out critical thinking. I think it will improve your life. Anyone's life.

(edited for brevity)

Here's where critical thinking helps:

Maybe the members are intentionally avoiding you and I'm one of the very few that's willing to respond.

And the basis for that claim is the creation of this thread in this forum:

Someone post something, FFS
Opening post:
That way I don't have to see all these new posts being listed as by Mazhur.

See how you overthought your hatred of me and assumed I was the cause of your lack of popularity.
I told you several times before, mazHur......you are your own worst enemy

Hey.....look who went off topic? That was you, not me :D

Enough of your pestering....day and night you are hounding me and polluting my threads, letting no one else but your side kick to whine about everything...
It seems others on Offtopicz are wary of you and your incontinence ...
