Due to the popularity of Youtube, there's a lot of covers of popular songs out there. Not only are Youtubers covering people's songs but so are other artists. The question is, which do you usually prefer?

Sometimes I find covers to be way better than the originals, especially if they've been slowed down and sung acoustically. A cover I've been listening to a lot recently is Boyce Avenue's Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye. The original has been played to death but there version is like listening to an entirely different song!

I like original songs the best, but I saw one recently that I'd never would think I would have ever seen. I didn't like it too much at first, but it is definitely growing on me.

For me it all depends on the artist some artists can sing covers just as good if not better but l have seen some really bad covers and if l was the original artist l would want to hear the song first before l said yes that song can be released, l know that things are not done that way but l would do it that way.

I usually like the original songs better, but there are those cover songs which sound better than the original. In my taste, it just depends on who sang the song, whether it is the original artist or the person who covers it. Sometimes, when a pop song is sang with an acoustic feel, I like the acoustic version better. There are others in which I have a difficult time choosing who sang better because both sound so good. Example in my list is Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby." I swear, Mariah is the diva, and David Cook is so cool with his version.

I want to put in some examples in my other comparisons, but I'd rather keep them to myself.

A lot of the time I prefer the original song to a cover of it done by another artist, but I absolutely love it when an artist is talented enough to take a song by an artist and flip it around and make it their own. Like if I can hear the same song back to back by two different artists and feel like I just listened to two completely different songs. Switch up the genre, the melody, put it in a different key, use different instruments, use a different type of voice, speed it up or slow it down. Make it your own.

Most of the time, I love the originals better than the covers. Although there are times that the cover version is even better than the original version. I hate it when they change the melody of a song I love or the tempo of the song.

I normally like the originals more than the covers. There are a few exceptions though. There are a few singers out there whose voices are so amazing that they blow the original out of the water. They're very few and far between though.

P!nk is definitely one of my favorite artists (and we all know how our favorite songs sound terrible when they aren't the original) but this is one of my favorite covers:

Their voices are just amazing for this song.

I usually prefer originals over covers, however, a lot of the covers I hear I actually like better than the originals. There are even covers that I absolutely love but hate the originals. But when I go out to see local bands I prefer to see a band that writes their own music. And when I search YouTube, I tend to look for covers. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure why I do that. As a music teacher, my students love to do covers, so I'm always helping them arrange songs and making it their own. I have a lot of fun doing that, especially when I get to see them perform their covers on stage.

I'm not a fan of cover versions at all. I hate hearing a classic song being murdered (unless it's something like a kid's choir). In particular, I hate hearing covers of Amy Winehouse, Nirvana and Michael Jackson. I always think they must be turning in their graves hearing their brilliant songs being ruined.

It's a case-to-case basis really. Some originals will always be better than the covers. On one hand, there are covers that tend to overshadow the beauty of the original. Boyce Avenue's cover of Miley Cyrus' Wrecking Ball is, in my opinion, a whole lot better. There's more feeling to it and it's sung more passionately.

I think that it really all depends. I can't listen to some songs unless I hear a cover or a remix of it of some kind. Sometimes, I like the remixes or covers so much that it makes me appreciate the original even more.

It depends. I prefer this cover of Wouldn't It Be Good to the original, for example:

Music is very dynamic and open as there are times where the covers are much more better than the originals and at times you get to enjoy the originals than the covers. Music as we all know is just like the food for the soul and the spirit as it takes one to the realm of the spirit when listening to good sounds.

For me I would prefer originals to the covers. This is because the originals give me the sense of feeling the real music compared to the covers.

I always prefer the original. Unless I prefer the cover. Then I don't prefer the original.
