Are we are inventing ourselves into social extinction... All this technology thats sposed to make our lives easier, and give us more "leisure time" etc will leave us with eff all jobs in the scarily near future... already most stores have halved their staff in favour of self serve tellers........

Self driving cars are already invented and legal in some states...and once viral (when deemed safe enough) there go's the jobs of taxis, bus drivers even limousine drivers and so forth...

Super computers invented that can out beat world champion chess players... and one super duper computer already in the minds of scientists will be so intelligent and have so much info stored it will be able to invent every single thing needed or possible to invent... giving mans imagination a backseat and no longer needed.... The sole reason that hasnt been created yet is because to store that amount of data will take more then a computer can currently handle. But its not far off..

robotic cleaning equipment and eventually robots to clean entirely, there go's the cleaning jobs... Billions will be affected and we are watching it evolve and theres not a farking thing we can do about it....

I say thats all scary stuff.. and Its now foolish to be blase and say thats fantasy.. cos its already happening its started.. Those old movies are coming true..

That's something I think alot about. They come up with great new innovations every single day now, but as you said some of these invention will kill jobs sooner or later. A solution for this problem might be basic income:

Every generation in every country of the world wonders whether or not recent advances and innovations are going to corrupt and harm them. The technology now changes faster than lightening to the point that things are nearly obsolete before they hit the stores. Bottom line is that its how we use the new innovations and not how many.

The thing is, every generation is closer to being right ...just look at the rate of cancer growth round the world just for one example, thru deodorants, creams and processed foods etc etc we put on or inside us . that our bodies try to deal with... Thats not even including the pollution levels with the earth also trying to rid the plastic bottles, and toxins we stuff into it, a direct result of technology's filth.

The way I see it is, if there are no more jobs, then there is no income tax - so it would probably require a complete system change for it to work. Maybe something like high sales / luxury tax and less loopholes for corporations.

Some people argue that technology creates new jobs, just different types, and I'm not seeing the benefit in that for all of society, only some that have a mind for IT not the average joe .... maybe.... But its a hard one to debate......... And yes, the big businesses would have to contribute more, it would sting small business tho, who already are under strain from taxes, it would wipe out competition and force us into an even more controlled society. ... Most would be better off going back to bartering on the side, theres a thing I saw I think its France or Italy? where each house grows a different lot of crops and they all swap with what they need, its a brilliant idea. One we could benefit doing all over the world.. But alas some places you cant do that because its under the umbrella of a business and the gov or shire will demand a cut... Im rambling lmao its all in my head but its 3.30am

Much food for thought but it's been that way for many years and we humans have always adapted with new jobs being evolved from the old. I remember when I was at school, many years ago, although there were computers in use the personal computer was way in the future. We used to be told in those days that the working week would be 20 hours and we would all be retiring at 40. Well at 40 I was working 12-14 hour days and the retirement age has gone up from 65 to 70 (in the UK).
Of course there's always the possibility that if we haven't all been vaporised in a nuclear haulocaust; we will probably have poisoned the Earth to the point where it can longer support life long before the jobs run out.

It is scary. They're even turning people into machines now, so it might just mean work will be saved for those who conform (as usual, just not in the usual way) and those left whole will suffer. If, of course, there is anything left after computers take over. All "progress" I see these days, leaves no room for people (especially whole and healthy people) and it's coming from every possible direction.
