I'm at work catching up on a backlog of travel vouchers, especially want to get the claimants' done by the holidays. Coincidentally, they are installing two cubicle/work stations. MAN what a lot is involved in this!:eek I just had thought about putting together the cubicles, but NO, they have to wire the electrical, wire the computer stations-making sure the wires go thru the cubicles and not obstruct and floors in any way, test everything, get it thru the computer and electrical rooms and telephone rooms and those wires, then test everything and coordinate all these people! MAN OH MAN there are dozens of people here coming in and out with power tools, big ladders, telephoning many others, and this is for TWO work stations! My boss will be in here all day!

I've assembeled a few of those work stations over the years. It would be amusing to see the office poagies attempt it. ;)

Serious questions here with all respect: Are you proud of the fact that you have to work additional hours away from your family and not be compensated for it? What happens when there is simply no day off available for your "comp"?

Is it a good thing that salaried employees are expected to give 50-60 hours per week with no expectation of FLSA compensation?

John, to answer seriously. I didn't HAVE to work that Saturday. I did so because my hubby was working, I wanted the comp time because going to Ireland unexpectedly because of Joe's Da's death ate way into my annual leave and I/we will need that time to build our house and I wanted to catch up on all the back log of travel vouchers.

The boss didn't ask me in, in fact, I asked to come in and told him HE didn't have to come in if he wanted me to oversee the workers putting together the work stations.

In today's economy I'm just glad to have a decent paying job.
