Hi Natasha, you probably saw my post this morning.. I did this before we left for the memorial epithet of the unknown soldier we have in most cities including mine where at 11 am on Nov 11th we have a moment of silence and a ceremony remembering those who fought for what we have today and those who still protect us. We ( my ex and I ) endeavor to teach our son what Nov 11th stands for and why we take a moment to remember those who fought for our freedom, gave their lives and still do without question. We remember those who came back disabled "be it physically and mentally as well as cheered those who were heros although I remind my son each an everyone one of them deserves that title..
And so I just got back from that day and visiting my Dad who was such a man, at 86 was heading to the front when the war ended.. So it's been a long day..
On Remembrance in Canada we usually post the Lest we forget and the poppy poem Flanders Fields..
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
May God keep all our men and women in Uniform safe who serve today and bless those who gave their lives for us..
