As a parent I cannot imagine tattooing my child at any age. I could not imagine allowing a young child to get a tattoo. Before anyone says I am a prude. Both of my children have gotten tattoos. Doesn't mean I agree with their decisions but both were over 21 when they made the decision.

we have to define an age at which children are capable to make their own life changing decisions
every child is different in that they some are more reason

I am pro tattoo. But not on a 11 year old. 18 they are an adult and can make up their own minds.
My son has been in a tattoo shop with me, he is 5. I was going over designs for my sleeve with my artist. But would I let him have ink before he is 18 no freaking way.

11 is too young. "She asked for it". Big flippin' deal...she'd probably ask to eat ice cream for supper too, or to not go to school...does that make it ok? The mother is a flake, imo, she clearly didn't think things through.

I agree with the fact that a child should not have any body altering done, unless its for medical non-cosmetic requirement, that could impact their lives in the future.

Gosh even at 18 most kids still don't realize what impact such changes could have on a possible job or how they are viewed by society.. If you can't drink and vote in your area until such an age, than it should be the same for this..

Let's make the laws consistent so kids know the legal age is for everything..

Did she do a terrible job or something?
I gotta see this work before I decide if it's criminal. I dunno why the little bitch doesnt just get excited to be the coolest girl in school

Its not the kid that has a problem with it, it was the in-law and the State..

Did the fact the mother did this to the kid herself have an impact by law enforcement?

I have seen some really young kids get their ears pierced and there was no uproar over that.

Also how big was the tattoo? Does that have any impact on the matter?

11 yrs old is too young for any kid to be getting a tattoo, that's just not right at all,for a parent to be doing that to their kid at that age.

I also don't agree with kids getting their ears pierced BUT if you decide later you don't want your ears pierced it's easy enuf for the holes to grow closed, getting rid of a tattoo is a little harder. A responsible parent would have let the kid get a temporary tattoo period.

An 11 year old kid is probably too young to be able to understand the long lasting effects of getting a tattoo. Plus, I think there's a big issue of consent. Kids could get pressured into tattoos like getting their ears pierced.

It isn't really that big of a deal to just wait until turning 18 to get a tattoo.
