Credit unions are usually very responsive to their customer's needs. The teller probably did not know what to do. Not really clueless just not trained properly.

not necessarily, some tellers are not trained in this area and they have very limited operations they can do on their side of the street. 2/3 of my staff could not do anything about debit card services and they needed to bring in a banker into the discussion.

My credit union is offering 1.5% on USED cars and their customer service is outstanding even though I only deal with them on the phone.

My credit union is awesome, too. Years ago I had a charge come through on my card that they thought was odd. They called to advise me of it, but I neglected to call them back. Even though it was MY fault for not calling them back, when I noticed the charge on my card and called them about it, they quickly refunded my money AND all the bounce fees caused by it.

My misuse of words. When I said properly trained I did not mean that as a slap at anyone. Most banks train tellers in only what they wish for them to handle.

Same thing here. On vacation and spent more money than I usually put on the card, and they called me about it WHILE I was on vacation. I've been with them for close to 20 years now, and although I don't keep much money with them, they treat me the same way they always have, great.

understood...and I think all people need to know the limits of certain aspects of what ones job entails and if a certain person can't handle a problem, they should not be expected to do such things (and to tell the consumer the limits of their job and not risk their employment and not to do the consumer wrong by not doing a job they have no idea how/what to do)

Aww, come on, guys...no Trayvon Martin reference yet??? I'm disappointed.

I'm not trying to be ugly, Dana, but once in a while you should try looking at the POSITIVE things in your life. Things like this just aren't that big of a deal.

Not having a debit card is kind of a big deal... LOL

Not in the grand scheme of things. You still have access to your money, it's just a little less inconvenient. Look on the bright side...at least you have money in the bank.

As for the original matter at hand, it's a good reminder that none of us know other people's job descriptions. I can't even begin to tell you how many times a night I get yelled at b/c the general public thinks that as long as I'm on the phone w/ them nobody is coming. There are 10 other people in this room and I more than likely am not dispatching for who is coming to your house. All I'm doing is asking questions to get more information for the people that are responding...the people who have BEEN enroute since you called.
