I had to wait for the Photography League to finish to post this thread. ;) Every Saturday that I'm off I meet up w/ my friend, Christy, and we hike the trails out at the Indian Mounds. It's a 4.11 mile hike and we usually reward ourselves w/ a burger at the rookery afterwards. :)

The start of the trail:

Dammit, I can't remember what this is called, but you can actually go inside here. It was used as a "meeting room" of sorts.

Bwahahahaha...apparently the URL for that first picture didn't copy. I think I got it before anybody saw it, though. :24:

This was from last year when I did a 5K out there. The sun coming up over the Great Temple Mound. My cousin SWEARS that being on top of the Great Temple Mound is like a spiritual experience for her.

I found my older pictures. This is the inside of that "meeting room" that I was talking about earlier.

I love this little tunnel...unless I'm driving through it b/c then you have to worry about whether or not a car is coming the other way. NO WAY 2 vehicles could get through at once.

What they refer to as the "wetlands."

Nice pics. Do you walk that rail in the heat we have had this summer? I could maybe do it in cool weather but not the heat. You folks don't know what uphill is till you climb around up here.

Yep, I think the hottest it was when we hiked it was 97 degrees. I've gotten 2 sunburns already this year walking this trail, LOL

I could do it in temps like we are having right now.(70's) Too much sun is bad news with my one medicine and I have to find shade in the heat of the day. 97 degrees I would be in a/c or water somewhere.

I always take a bottle of water w/ me, but I'm usually done w/ it halfway through the hike. I'm going to take a larger squeeze bottle instead next time. The good thing is that there's riverfront areas, so if you need to you can walk down into the river and cool down.

If I was still on my blood pressure meds, I wouldn't be able to do it b/c they make you so sensitive to the sun (plus I'm ALREADY fair-skinned as it is)...but my hypertension resolved itself w/ weight loss. ;)

Yeah, the Rangers are always out there moving the grass and doing other upkeep...it's always very pretty.

LOL It doesn't get much cooler than 97 degrees here in the Summer. That's why we hike it earlier in the day, so it's not 110!!! :D

Thanks for the memories Tash!! The Indian mounds is an interesting place - the Temple mound does indeed seem to have a "energy" to it. Might see about revisiting it when we come to Georgia in December.
