Andy Murray tennis player

someone just forwarded this to me

shocking!!!
[h=3]National identity[/h]Murray identifies himself as Scottish and British.[SUP][192][193][/SUP] Prior to Wimbledon 2006, Murray caused some public debate when he was quoted as saying he would "support anyone but England" at the 2006 World Cup.[SUP][194][/SUP] He received large amounts of hate mail on his website as a result.[SUP][195][/SUP] It was also reported that Murray had worn a Paraguay shirt on the day of England's World Cup match with the South American team.[SUP][194[/SUP]

Yeah that....I didn't actually have a problem with it. He's Scottish....by their very nature they are supposed to not like England, and certainly not support them in the World Cup. I'd be more shocked if he came out then and said "yeah, go England, beat those Paraguayans", because it's not supposed to happen. Nothing pleased me more than to see Scotland not qualify for the Euros last year.

would an Englishman actively support Scotlands opponents, even to the extent of wearing the other teams shirt? sounds awfully petty to me

it is suggested that a typical Scottish person would take delight in England's failure yet you seem to not care. Do you have English relatives

Oh I do take delight in their failure. I just am not shocked if England qualify when Scotland don't because Scotland do suck at sport. And no all my relatives that I am aware of are Scottish.
