For PBBB's Field Days they were allowed to wear hats (this is Floriduh). I also put block on her before she left and she always wore a large, light-coloured tshirt. She was also allowed to take her sunblock w/her and bottled water. Good to know Rural Florida does some things right:cool

I would not have sent her to Field Day in a shirt like this girl had on. It's all about skin coverage on those days.

I feel bad for the kids

But the parent is full of shit to complain

This should never happen and the zero tolerance bullshit is gotten to be absurd

But if I had an Albino kid or a kid like mine who are very fair skinned I would make damn certain that I took all measures in advance to have all the necessary waivers on hand to allow for the kids to have sunscreen. I also would have never let them out the door on a scheduled field day without following up on that and also putting suncreen on before my kids left the house.

yes the school systems lack of common sense is bullshit but then you can bet your ass some of this is due to some moron suing a school for such crap

I must be missing something but I don't understand why a child needs a Dr's note to wear sunscreen? What kind of policy is that?

The FDA labels sunscreen as an OTC medicine... therefore its given the same policy as like advil.

In our schools a note from a parent (or signed wavier) grants permission for both, and the parent normally supplies it for their own child to keep there as well.

American society becomes more and more riddled with STUPID every single day. There is no other word to describe such a ridiculous policy and every single person who had a hand in creating and enforcing it. STUPID!

I work at a golf course, and we do a Jr. League for kids during the summer and we have to have the parents sign a waiver saying that we are allowed to supply sunscreen to the kids.

Yup I agree

I know Zero tolerance can be a pain but there are circumstances where it is required.. That said if they will put such strict standards in Schools they need to plan for such rules.. You don't plan a trip outside if kids can't be out..

We used to get letters home which our parents had to sign for things like this. Although it's highly unlikely we ever need suntan lotion here...

The bottom line is, sunscreen does not protect everyone and this mother knowing fully well, that her children had sun sensitivity, let them out of the home inappropriately dressed for their condition. She has no right to bitch. Like someone else said she could have applied sunscreen before they went to school. I never use sunscreen no matter how long I'm outside.
