I'm not even irritated about the original topic anymore... It's more about the blatant lack of sense that some people think this type of thing is ok and the fact that I hate words being put in my mouth. But it's whatever... I'll let this die now.

I think a tree is a great idea.
But at the same time. My 5 year old likes to release balloons. So his prayers and love can reach my parents.

so what if they were already releasing balloons? maybe this person was suggesting a way to have something that will (most likely) always be there to remember said person. i know that it's a totally common thing around this area to plant/dedicate trees (which is also a good, environmentally friendly thing, fyi) for deceased school teachers or officials.

This. I fail to see how the person's actions were disrespectful to the teacher being honored. If someone I respected passed away, and someone proposed dumping oil into the ocean to honor them.... I'm pretty sure I'd suggest another way to honor them too...

Well, we'll be planting a tree I guess. Kind of weird that that person posted under Kwame and the organizer today makes a post in the event that the principal got a phone call from some organization called Balloons Blow out of Florida protesting the balloon release. It had to have been him, it's too much of a coincidence that the organization has a Facebook page and that individual made that comment but the organizer has the principal's full cooperation. People are pathetic. Why be worried about something so far away?

I think it's great news about the tree as opposed to the balloons.
I'm guessing not many thought about what happens to all those balloons once they pop....or what happens to the animals that eat the popped balloons....
