We in the West tend to bitch about damned near anything - but compared to the rest of the world, we have it made overall. American's are the champions of bitching about First World problems.

So what are some First World problems you guys bitch about, or hear others gripe on and on about?

I think my fellow Americans complain too much about how the government is telling us how to run our lives more and more, such as laws against not wearing your sealt belt, for example.

I think people complain excessively because if laws like this save lives, then it's worth it.

Someone posted up an image about it a while back. One of the ones that made me LOL b/c I've totally thought like that before was the light changing to green before you have time to respond to a text message. :24:

The other side of that coin is having too much time at traffic lights. I hate those huge thoroughfares with big-box stores on them that have a traffic light every two seconds.

I think numbering society's by 1st and 3rd world is kind of dumb. In some aspects some of these third world countries live a better way of life than we do, esp, those that are not so dependent on modern conveniences. I think we tether ourselves to these things way too much, I myself am guilty as well. But I'm not sure how I would be without them. Sorry, just something I was thinking.

We may have it better than everyone else but we still have a heap of problems

That's how I view it.

If everything besides starving, running from animals, and evading rebels is a first world problem then I suppose we don't have a right to bitch about divorce, stress, death, losing your job, losing your kids, being stuck at a job you hate, struggling to pay bills, lack of friends or family, no time for leisure, mental disease, etc.

Right? Because our problems are so insignificant. Unless you live in the third world quit yo complainin'

We have problems, just different problems.

Sometimes a wee bit of perspective is great, nonetheless

Uhh, yeah. I personally enjoy living in a place where I'm not expected to cover myself head to toe and walk behind men. Or where I don't automatically become a social outcast and complete waste of life if some "man" decides to rape me. Yeah, our problems suck too, but would you REALLY want to trade places w/ these other people???

First, second and third world aren't random numberings. It's a relic from the cold war; with the first world being NATO countries and the second being communist allied countries while the third world were neither.

Hmmmm, so the third world don't get stressed, die, job loss, kid loss, no money, loneliness, mental disease either?

I think they do. But they don't get to bitch about it on the internet and take valium until the edges all become blurred. :p

The stupid thing about having a law mandating you wear your seat belt in a car is at the same time, at least in Minnesota, you're not required to wear a helmet on a motorcycle.
