Rather than blog up the board I will try to put my thoughts here.
No good deed goes unpunished. By not being a jerk I always get screwed over. I am trying to get my pool in good shape for the long weekend. After putting about 100 cups of chemicals in I do not believe it is right yet. My test strips are showing not enough PH or alkalinity. Local pool store tests your water for free so they can sell you the chemicals you need. Yesterday afternoon I took a water sample by the pool store. The woman behind the counter was working alone and was dealing with a woman who is having issues with algae in her pool. I wait as patiently as I can for about 15 minutes waiting my turn. Finally the other customer gets her stuff and pays and starts out the door. I walk up and hand my water bottle to the woman to test. She notices a young man who has walked in behind me what he needs. He says only a bag of salt. She looks at me and asks do you mind if I sell him one bag of salt before testing your sample? I said ok. THEN THE FUN STARTED.
Him, "Actually I need 2 bags of shock and a bag of salt."
Her, "Cash, credit or debit?"
Him, "Can I pay $5 in cash and the balance on my debit card."
Her, "I can't do that but I can ring up one bag of shock for cash and the balance on debit."
OK one transaction has now become 2. Did I mention she is a little frazzled? Finally she rings his two transactions. As she is finishing up the woman who was ahead of me returns to the store. Again the woman behind the counter stops instead of testing my sample.
First Woman, " I need my sample bottle."
Her, "Oh ok."
I watch in horror as she pours my water sample down the sink. She realized her mistake about the time she did it. nice.
