What's a decent camera to buy that isn't off the deep end in price? I got paid today and I was thinking of investing in a camera and taking up photography.

If you're asking the more experienced folks, you probably need to tell them what you're looking for. Are you looking to do simple point and click photography or are you looking at getting a DLSR??? That stuff is above my head...but there's plenty here who could help you out.

LOL I said I don't wanna pay too much... Def can't afford the first two but want something more complex than just an average point and shoot. I've had plenty of those.

My wife and I have been using Fuji for the last 6 years, They're very durable, which is why we're still using an s5700.

the S5700 is only 10X zoom and 7.1MP, but it's more than adequate for hobby shooting.

Very nice! I'm going to go to my local Walmart and other stores in town and price out cameras and to see if they actually have that model. I'd put the cash in the bank and just order it online but I'm impatient and I like to look at the product first hands.

i have a nikon D40. its bottom of the line DSLR pretty much. it has no on board motor so if you get different lenses you do pay more for them because they need a motor unless you want to shoot manual focus always...

so the kit camera was like $600 then $250+ for every lens you want

the D40 is a great camera. does everything i expected and more

thats just for DSLR. if youre looking more for a PnS i have a cannon powershot that is pretty good. i like it

I have some Fuji camera that I bought at WalMart a while ago. It's certainly cheap, but the photos I've taken come out decent.
