This is exactly why I support the death penalty for child molesters and rapists. I have no desire to see anyone tortured, but I would feel a lot better knowing these people could never hurt anyone ever again.

only those that really did it though? right? the legal system is strong enough that we could never possibly get the wrong person and have a false conviction, right?

i am sure life in prison is a greater sufferance that the death penalty for these people, and frankly life inside surely means they cannot harm again

So, I had jury duty today. Without giving specific details, the case I was called in on was for a convicted rapist who had also been found guilty of aggravated assault, battery, etc.

I ended up having to be excused from the jury because I flat out admitted that I'd have trouble ever approaching the case with an open mind. :( I got the heebie-jeebies just being in the same room with the guy.

Yeah ... that would be hard.

I have jury duty the end of this month. I have never actually been able to attend one of these as I was always given a letter of excuse from my work.

The one time I had jury duty they worked out a last minute plea bargain. Still got paid for the whole day.

Well, yeah ... employers are legally obligated to pay you for the first 3 days of jury duty unless they can prove some sort of extreme financial hardship. :p

ha ha, this is actually when I was on break for my first year of college. I wasn't working or anything. Jury duty was basically free money.

Huh, how'd you swing that? I thought you didn't get paid unless the trial went past 3 days, and even then it's just $50 a day.

If they're convicted of child molestation or rape, they should be executed. Period.

I don't care if they suffer. I just want them off this earth so they're unable to hurt anyone again. And neither crime at this point in time is punishable by life in prison in the US.
