Thats fair enough. Of course things are different over here. Anyone can go to any college if they have the grades. Sport is not a part of academia.
So I cannot comment on your situation; only ours.

Honestly, I think going to school full ride with a sports scholarship is sort of a pipe dream. You have to be super talented and hardworking. In my opinion, students should concentrate first on schoolwork, and then maybe sports if it fits into their schedule. Good academics will get you into a good school. Good academics combined with sports will also get you into a good school, maybe better. But putting too much effort into sports seems to lead most students to neglect academics. Sports should be something that's fun, and competitive, not something that overwhelms students.

I think going to the NFL is a pipedream. But sports scholarships are given out from many different schools often. Both my husband and myself were offered full and partial sports scholarships from different schools. We ended up both turning them down for different reasons though. My son also has straight As, is in the gifted program, and leads his entire grade in Accelarted Reading points.

going back some years when my son was about ten,the head mistress of his school advocated this non competitive rubbish....the boys and girls turned up for football and netball but always lost because 'it was only for fun'.....well she moved on and they got a headmaster,that year the boys won the area cup for football and the girls won the city schools netball cup....tell me which method they enjoyed most?

Ahhh I see. I suppose it's a bit like the Oxford Reading Tree and the reading exams that are done every year (or every 2 years).

It's kinda different. It's like EVERY book (Harry Potter and Hunger Games are even on it). Basically any reading you do at home you can take a test on at the library and earn more points. The higher the reading level, the more points the book is worth. Points are then used for different things- like teachers may require you to earn X amount of points, so that you may choose any book you want to read as long as it's a certain level, sometimes they give out gift cards to the book fair for points, etc. It's to promote at home, for fun reading instead of required reading... so kids can chose things they like to read and get rewarded for it.
