a shame you could not have some park n ride affair, i visited Oxford in the uk a few yerars back, drivinng in that city is horrible, many people cannot afford to live in the city limits so they all live within a 40 mile radius in any given direction , so now people drive to the outskirts park and bus in, the city is ringed with park n ride affairs, they certainly spend less on gas and their gas prices are ugly

We have these all up and down the freeways in Phoenix because the city is so expansive. We also have buses that run on surface streets and the freeways. They have been building a lightrail tram system for the last few years, but it's only beneficial at this point if you already live close to the downtown area, as it hasn't stretched up to the suburbs yet.

It would definitely be nice to commute to work in that manner, seeing as how a lot of jobs and other places are 20-30 minutes away, and can be as far as 30 miles depending on where in the city the office is located. My boyfriend has regularly commuted 60 miles a day five days a week for his job in the past. It's not fun on the gas tank. At least our gas is still slightly cheaper than places like CA and NY and what not.

What people should do is do a mass carpool all of the country for a month. I would laugh my ass off at the economical effects.

Also... I want to braodcast a message on every public radio or television network to flush your toilets at approximately 6:30pm lmao

Something that seems like a nice idea but isn't always terribly practical. For example, I am the only member of staff in my office who starts at 9am and doesn't leave till 6pm, by which time everyone else has gone :dunno there's not enough people working here to link everyone up.

It'd be easier in big offices though, with more people all working the same schedule.
