It's all upbringing. How we are raised will dictate how we interact with one another.
I for one will hold a door and give up my seat for a lady. It's just how I'm drawn, and by now it's just habitual.
However, I realize that my old school beliefs may not fly in todays "cut or be cut" world. Some things you do "for a lady"
have the potential to offend.
"I apologize for offering up my seat dear madam. I saw you standing in those uncomfortable heels, and just assumed you'd
want to sit. Please excuse my misguided assumption. I was unaware that you are actually an iron worker who can press nearly 300 lbs"
It may be wrong, but with gender come certain stereotypes.
"Lady let's make a deal... I won't be angry with you because you can ride a Harley better than I, but you can't be offended if I can cook better than you"
