I really should teach a course in how to be a gentleman. I had to grasp the pew in front of me and force myself to keep my seat so I would not correct the young man two rows in front of me.


A young couple walks in together ( I assume they are dating). When they get to the pew where they intend to sit the young man sits on the end of the row so the girl has to climb over him to sit down. If he intended on sitting on the outside he should allow her to get in and move over. A gentleman always allows the lady to sit first.

The only thing I can figure is that young men aren't being raised that way anymore. It's a shame. My mom and I went to a UGA game a couple of months ago and, on the bus ride back to the parking deck, we were standing. Only ONE man, an older man, got up and offered his seat to us. I was always raised that even as a lady, if I am sitting and an older person is standing I offer them my seat whether they are male or female.

That is called common courtesy. I agree.

I hear language every day and think...really?

I have got stuck holding the door for extended periods but I will not let the door go on a woman or a child. I may look at a man and nod as if to say your turn.

Hehe, yeah really. Of course that is my point though. Many people in the states, both male and female, have absolutely no sense of manners or very little.

Equal rights perhaps? Chicks really have it made overall. They like to be treated like a lady when they want it, and they'll cut your throat in the workplace if necessary.

As to the OP - that dude was just a dipshit. Chivalry aside, it's just plain easier to let center seaters in first, male or female. On airplanes, I like aisle seats. If I get there before the window seater and middle seater, I get up when they arrive and let them in and help them put their bag in the overhead if they need help - male of female. Makes life easier for everyone including yourself.

I am not a "chick" but absolutely, I expect to be treated like a lady. I treat others w/ respect and expect to get the same in return. As for the cut-throat pace of business...that doesn't lie solely w/ the female gender. There are just as many two-faced men out there, too. I will agree, though, that an office full of women is a HORRIBLE environment. Women are catty when it comes to other women.

I'll have to disagree. Some of my most fondest memories in my younger years was working as a "kelly girl" as a temp worker. Getting thrown into an office full of women as a single guy was rather fun

QFT. It's ridiculous the kind of crap we get up in arms over when there's a group together. It gets worse when the group is together frequently (like in a work environment). It becomes a never-ending competition.

I got from my seat on a bus once for a pregnant lady only to have a 20ish guy try to take the seat...he couldn't figure out why he shouldn't..I got up after all. smh

SMH indeed!!! When I was in college I gave up my seat on the bus to a guy who was on crutches and was obviously recent post-op on his knee. He almost refused to accept.
