While there may not be any articles in the UCMJ that specifically say "you're forbidden from urinating on the bodies of your enemies" there is always Article 92.

Article 92 is failure to obey, an order or regulation.

That is the "catch all" article of the UCMJ.

It brings discredit upon themselves, the USMC, and ultimately the USA.

We send these 18 year old kids off to the asshole of the world after training them to be killers and then act shocked when shit like this happens.

I venture no one here has seen the level of combat these young kids have. I'm not trying to justify pissing on a corpse, but cut them some slack.

The Walking Dead - First Battalion, Ninth Marines were known for cutting off the ears of their kills in Vietnam and everyone thought that was fucking cool.

The word is empathy Darrell. We were not there. I do know your mind gets real fucked up in certain stressful situations and you could do some things the general public thinks is abnormal.

What else should we cut them a break on? Rape? Torture? How about if they violate the Geneva Conventions or further articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice?

We didn't put a draft into effect, John, and these "kids" knew what they were signing up for. Nobody tricked them into thinking they would not go to combat, ESPECIALLY considering they joined during a time that we are engaged in armed conflict.

Like I said - stress does things to the mind. Further, many of these Marines spend YEARS in combat. In Vietnam, it was 13 months and you were done. Many of these guys are doing multiple tours. Put yourself in their shoes and ask yourself if you could mentally handle that day in and day out for years.

God knows I feel for these kids, Afghanistan sucks, but you pissed on the corpses of the fallen, and then put it on the internet.

"let he who is without sin cast the first stone"

There's an awful lot of stone throwing going on here and I doubt there are any sinnless humans among us.

If I were their CO, I would take a stripe and 2 months pay and put them on shit details for 90 days and maybe have them do some remedial training. All this court marshall bullshit is just that - fucking bullshit.

I'm pretty confident no matter HOW upset I was, I would not piss on dead bodies. I guess I'm just more respectful than that. Enemy or not, that's a human being on the other end of those sights.

I did a little RMT once or twice, we didn't cover anything that had to do with pissing on people, and a court marshal isn't the end of the world.
