Do you put on a front for anyone or certain situations?

I don't. Hell fuckin' no. What's the point of it? To hide who you really are? Face reality and stop being afraid of upsetting that something that just isn't!!

I don't interact with my boss in the same way that I interact with my parents, and I don't interact with my parents in the same way that I do with my friends.

Different faces for different situations. I doubt anyone behaves exactly the same with everyone in their lives.

I'd have to say that I do here b/c, as an Admin, I'm expected not to respond in a certain way to members, regardless of what they say or do. So while I may DETEST someone's views or actions, I have to step back and take a break instead of blowing up and saying what I *really* want to say. So, in that respect, yes I do.

I have to agree w/ this, too. At work I'm completely professional...it's pretty well expected when you're dealing w/ a rank structure, anyway. I would NEVER dream of calling a Sergeant (or any other rank) by his or her first name instead of by rank in a situation where we are on duty. It's disrespectful, IMO. Hell, it's so ingrained in me that I tend to call them by rank even OFF duty and have to correct myself...which is funny b/c I'm constantly telling my people "we're off duty, it's not Sergeant, it's Natasha." :24: I'm also a lot cruder around certain friends than others just b/c I know what does and doesn't offend them. Not many of my friends are easily offended, thank God. LOL

Same here. I'll hang up the phone and bitch about whoever I just talked to and how rude they were to me...but on the phone I am completely professional. I can't hang up on them, no matter HOW rude they get w/ me. I have bitten my tongue and sweet-talked someone to death while they were calling me a "dumb cunt" before. Coffee room for me is a great place to go let off steam, oooh us nurses love a good old bitch in there!! I try and tell people why what I suggest is better but when they dont listen, I gotta just let them learn from their own mistakes even though it bugs the hell out of me. Something silly like feeding a baby then changing its nappy, thats just pisses me right off! But sometimes they gotta learn that the baby will puke if you do it that way!!
But yeah, beats being on the dole.

We have a backporch that's our smoking area...it's a good place to go blow off steam. There's also a football and soccer field out back that has a track around it, so if I get REALLY pissed I can go outside and run off some of my frustration.

I try to be the same in every situation, but there are times I just can't. I have been in situations at work where if I was with a friend, I would call them on something, or make a face or something, but at work all I can do is smile bigger. Who I am works no matter where I am. There are some topics I won't discuss in different situations, but that's not so much putting on a front as being appropriate. Honestly, I probably talk about more "inappropriate" things at work than at home...

I'm the opposite. I had to change my entire manner of interacting w/ people once I got rank. I stopped going out to bars w/ co-workers or even sending risque text messages. V is the only person I work w/ that I will discuss anything inappropriate with and that's simply b/c I trust her completely.

i am not the same at work as i am at home or around my family. i can be very crude and with such a potty mouth, but do not do that in front of my kids or around patients. now around the station may be a different story. i do try to restrain myself as much as possible since i am in a position of authority i dont want the others to think they can act the same way. this is why i go outside for a smoke break or even hide in the bathroom to let off my true feelings LOL

Lol I would then change them again. Im very institutionalized in trivial things because I deal in the main with.premature babies. So I do a lot different to a new parent at home.

Change them again.

I didn't know a baby will puke if you feed it then change the nappy. I always changed the nappy first because I thought it would be nicer for the baby to have a feed without a full nappy.
