I was offered a job the other day to be administrator at the kids school.....

I have a few months to think about it mainly due to school holidays and the fact they legally have to put a temp in the position for a little then i can apply for the job.

I have had people telling me from the school i should apply for it, hell the principle and teachers have all told me it is something i should do for sure.

I have a sinking feeling however, There are a lot of pros to the job School holidays when the kids are on holidays (saves me money on vacation care), Paid holidays and sick days BUT im worried about leaving my boss in the lurch. Her husband is due to have open heart surgery next Jan and she needs us to hold down the fort for her. Im only a casual but i sorta feel obligated.

Thoughts?

Are you kidding? Your thinking about NOT taking it?

(Slaps you in the head) Do both for a while. Is the school job 5 days a week?

Opportunities don't always come along.

Take the job if you feel it is better for you and your family.

It's nice that you feel obligated, but if you're only "casual" (in your own words) and the company you work for can fall apart without you, the company is already in trouble and may not even know it.

Your kidding me right ?

Here's a little advice about business.. No friends, no family come ahead of your own best interests..

When my mother passed away in 2004, upon my return Dec 13th I was handed my walking papers. No feeling of Poor guy he just had a kid a few months ago and lost his Mom.. BAM, your laid-off and that was after working for the company for 7 years with getting "A+" performance reports.

Do what is best for you not others.. It's you and your kids you need to worry about.. Heart attacks come and go and people will always be sick..

Do you get benefits and would you be well taken care of if something happened to you as a "casual worker" ? It's damn amazing how fast the view turns when your own health becomes an issue as a casual worker. Been there and will never do that again..

It's always easy to look at the bad side of change but never the good..

Change will always make you uncomfortable, new job, new coworkers, new hours and such, until you look at it in a positive way.

There will be times in life that you can make a bad choice but those are few and far apart.. With the internet today, do research about the place and Google "Disgruntled Employees" or Unhappy Workers at xxxxx" and see what you get..

Well i went for an interview yesterday afternoon for the job, Unfortunatley i walked out without a job :(

The position was temporary two days a week for a term..... (two days less that i work now)
Then an interview in front of the school board...... and if they agree and i pass the test needed i can re apply for the job amoung others who wish to re apply and hope to god i get it. :(

I thought about it and it cannot be done.

I am the only person bringing the bacon home in my household and i cannot afford to be able to sit back and do two days a week. So i turned the job down :(

Im super bummed about it
