Ever been given something you neither wanted or needed and given it to someone else? How do you feel about re-gifting?

I've done it but not given it as a as a gift. I usually try and give stuff to a family member but if they don't need it then I pass it on to these guys http://www.mcc.org/ They have numerous thrift stores. Beside that they help a lot of people get back on their feet again.

I did with something. Oh, it was a pair of gloves Matthew had gotten as a gift years ago and never wore because they were too small. Money was tight that Christmas so I passed them along to my brother. I'm pretty sure I told him, though. I do know I asked my mom whether it was wrong to do or not, and she okayed it. They did still have the tags on them (and the receipt shoved into the one) so they weren't used or anything. He loved them.

Sort of, I was given £10 from an Auntie and for some reason I put it in the back part of my wallet and forgot about it. Anyway a couple on months later I was looking through my wallet and found the money, which I gave to my Sister for her birthday.

I don't think I've actually done it, but I would, although only between people who wouldn't see each other.

So for example, I wouldn't give something to my sister that my mum originally gave to me.

But I would give something to a friend that my grandmother had given me, because their paths will never cross.

I think so long as it's a gift that you would probably have bought for them anyway, or something similar (like sets of perfume or bath goods, stuff that's very generic) then there's no harm.

I got the same gift once for Christmas and much to the shock of my aunt I shared my gift with my neighbor and upon realizing it was the only gift her got that year (things were always tight in their family) she understood

I haven't done it but I don't see a problem with it. I've been given things I already had or don't need before, so instead of asking for the receipt and most likely hurting their feelings or letting it sit in the garage collecting dust, why not re-gift?

I got two frames for Christmas last year too. I just popped them in different rooms. People got them because we had just gotten married that year, and I loved them both because I couldn't fit all my pics on just one.

If it is something superbly shitty or utterly tacky, I will put it aside and use it as a Dirty Santa gift.

If it's something good - but I don't want it for whatever reason - and I know one of my friends would use it or like it, I'll just give it away. I don't bother to regift. And if it's something I won't ever use, and none of my friends could be bothered with it, I'll donate it. Hopefully, someone will use it then.

If I am given something which I already have and I know someone else could use. I might just give it to them or I might re-gift if monies are tight at the time. There are somethings which end up as dirty Santa gifts just because they are ridiculous.

I have no issue with re-gifting unless the item in used. In that case....EW! But if the item is brand new, who cares?
