I saw that story a while back and I thought it was awesome. I think I actually posted it on Facebook when I saw it b/c it impressed me so much. I can't say that I would've done the same thing...but I would like to think that I could. That night may have changed that kid's life forever.

He handled it very well. If a teenager pulled a knife on me, I'd have punched him in the face. :dunno

The guy was a social worker. I'm sure he's met quite a few kids like this one. That type of exposure helps a person see such kids as individual humans, rather than "a mugger" or "a gangbanger," know what I mean? Since I've been teaching, I've met lots of good kids that made really stupid decisions. Some kids see themselves the way they think other people see them, and so they figure why fight destiny. So I might have done something like what this guy did, or something equally risky. I have to wonder how many people would have called this guy stupid if things had gone wrong.

Wow, what a great guy. There's not many people in the world who could have or would have done that.

My feelings were two fold. Without a doubt, I thought "ugh this could have gone very wrong". I'm glad it didn't, he seems like a truly good person, and I hope he never encounters someone hostile who isn't willing to be receptive to his kindness.

Oh I know exactly what you mean, man. I have to give the man props he handled things very well. All I was saying is that I would not have reacted the same, lol.

I should start changing they way I have been. I used to think this way. Until I felt they I have fallen short of getting almost everything I have ever wanted because I let someone else have it.
It seemed as though the enjoyment of watching someone else happy made me happier than ever having anything formyself and some how along the way I watch as though I let get over on me would
push it in my face and brag be self centered and seem to only want to dominate others. Where as It was easy for me to get what they had so I just stood aside and let someone who was struggling have it.

things like school stuff and contests and board and card games at home
even video games

kid of like when you have a small child and you purposely let them when almost all the time
