Veterinary corps? Well good for you! The new docs need something to practice on so they don't screw up on the animals. You should do fine. :jk

Seriously, though, Pete. Good on ya. I hope you get what you want. And don't worry, They don't use cannons anymore. It's missiles and rockets now. ;)

My sister is the British Army and just to say what do you get out of the army. You see the world at a very young age, meet new people, learn new cultures, learn discipline which will assist you in later life. And many many more. Your words used by cannon fodder was actually made in WW1 from the provenance made the British public saying how much the choices made by David Lloyd George failed. It was mostly the cartoons published to show there biassed view towards the war and the government. Secondly the term was used because the what we did basically is striked all our artillery at the Germans hoping to wipe out the trenches for one week straight. However unaware that the Germans had hit under ground in the trenches which had no affect what so ever on the germans, meaning the first wave.

I could take all day about WWI, Leaugue of nations and WWII ;P.

If you dont want to be cannon fodder join the air force

Porterjack considering the air forces long employment state at the moment it isn't looking to good. My couisin got all through the interviews until the last one he received a phone call stating that were not recruiting at the moment because the government's cuts. I can see three things happening within the RAF.

1. Completely disbanded
2. only to employ the TA - territorial army
3. Be merged with the army

In my opinion I wouldn't really consider the RAF as a reliable backup plan. However which job is safe at the moment with redundancies rising? The British government isn't taking any good measures to make employment grow, but what he is doing is making useless cuts that aren't going to do anything at ALL, which is making people protest around London centre daily.
