fried turkey (A MUST!!)

deviled eggs
corn bread dressing with giblet gravy

spent at my grandparents house! then we draw names for who we're buying for for christmas!

it's good to see the traditions that everyone has. I'm trying to talk Tim into going to my moms she gets the family together every year. Tim wants something where it's just us two and the boys. And what breaks my heart is he wants the same thing for them, when they get older have their own thanksgiving with their family and not come over our house. I've spoken to many girlfriends, and they will go over a family members house where the whole family gets together.

Thanksgiving is something that I would like to have at our house one day, with me taking over the cooking for my mom when she can't do it anymore and keeping it that way so our kids can come over with their kids in the future. And when I die, one of them will take over the cooking and keep having the family over and staying together the best they can.

We usually go over to my grandma's house... my aunt, uncle, and two of my cousins usually come (the other one is in the Navy)... about the only people that don't show up are my brother and his family because they seem to spend every single holiday with her family.

Oh, and we usually cook up a turkey in the oven, and deep fry another one.

We're doing roasted Turkey. Probably close to 20lbs.

For nibblies, probably a veggie & fruit plate & cheese & crackers.

It will be at my house. My wife and I will do the cooking and our kids and her parents are coming over. Probably be only 6 of us. I thought about inviting my mom and sister but with my Mother-In-Law recovering from a stroke and having trouble communicating a small gathering is best. May be less pressure on her and less embarrassing as she struggles to find the right words.

We always do it at my house w/ my mom doing all the cooking (I make the salad, but that's about it). This year we'll also be going to my aunt's house (on my dad's side) on Saturday to have dinner w/ his side of the family (funny, we see more of his family now that my mom and dad are divorced, LOL).

Not sure about my aunt's house, but at my house we'll be having:

Turkey (oven-baked...no frying in my house EVER)
Cornbread dressing (and no, you're wrong, b/c my mom makes the best, LMFAO)
Giblet gravy
Cranberry sauce
Butter beans
Creamed corn
Homemade macaroni and cheese
7 layer salad (it has peas and water chestnuts in it...so yummy)
Ooooh ooh, and Brown and Serve rolls (love those)
Homemade pumpkin pie
Maybe green bean casserole...not sure

I had my first ever thanks giving dinner last year, it was great! My American friends have left Brussels now though, so I don't think I'll have a thanks giving meal this year! Too bad :(
