Yea, I'm sort of doing the same thing. I really want to learn more magic. Someone (in RL, not Skyrim lol) told me to go the jarls and they'll give you spells. Before, I went to the College in winterhold (or whatever it's called) but I haven't really done any of the quests for them yet.

I am a Thane in most of the holds (Thane is a title the Jarl gives you, after being his bitch and doing stupid quests). I've yet to receive any spells from him.

You can purchase spells from the Court Mage inside Dragonsreach. Enter the Palace, head up the stairs, and hang a right. He's in there with an Enchanter, and Alchemy lab.

Spells vary in prices but most start about 150 gold.

I do a lot of selling. I sell everything I find that I cannot use. Right now, I have a home, fully upgraded, and 15k gold with nothing to spend it on.

Best way to make gold is enchant shit items with shit enchantments. It raises their sale value by hundreds of gold
