Most people in our society feel that there's nothing worse than blindness. However, I'm not so sure about that.

As awful as blindness is, quadriplegia to me is equally bad. Sure you still have your vision. But you can't move to the point where your incredibly trapped and are dependent on others to take care of you.

What do you think?

I think it would be worse if someone had to cut of all your fingers and you could not have posted this thread !

Another horrible situation is for someone to have Alzheimers or any other form of dementia. I don't want to sound pessimistic, but if a person has it, should they take medications which only delay the inevitable?

Actually, maybe so. You can enjoy what life you do have left by taking pills.

But it's so hard if you have a terminal illness which comes with much suffering when you know the illness will get worse.

do not think that having meds helps any. my mom did have dementia and she took a slew of pills everyday and they did not do much for her memory. she did visit a neurologist every six months and they tested her memory and she was sharp in some aspects and others not so good....

on the other hand
there are ways to make the virtual world in which you are walking but its not the same
you could control a computer with nueroVR and eye movement and could talk and put a vr head set on and interact with tons of people via headset and vr

What an awful topic...

Unfortunately, meds do not help everyone with dementia.

Dementia doesn't rob you of your memories. Instead, it robs you of your ability to access those memories, since on a good day a person with dementia can remember what they forgot the day before (or even just a few minutes ago).
