Wow, that's frigging awesome, TBH. I would LOVE to be making that kind of money (not sure where I would fall on the scale, but I assume w/ 11 years experience and being a shift supervisor it would be pretty high on up there). I can't complain, though...I'm literally a dime short of having doubled my salary in 11 years. I must remind myself I am fortunate, LOL

11 years experience? Hell you would be an inspector at the least here and on about $40 US an hour.

Yep...well, technically I'm about 3 weeks short of that. My anniversary date is November 15th.

Hey Tasha, have you ever seen this.. You may not be looking for a job but this will give you an idea what other places are paying for that type of position.. I found it quite interesting to see Seattle 9/11 dispatch making almost as much as those in BC..

I actually HAVE seen that before. I was looking to relocate to another city or state at one point and poked around on there. I think it's interesting that the Glynn Co operations coordinator job (that's THE big bossman of the center) makes less than I do (on the low end of the scale, at least). I looked up some positions in NYC before and it was going to be a pay cut for me. Now THAT is insane!!!

I don't know if any of that even makes sense to somebody outside the agency, especially considering things are so different where you are, but I hope it does.

From what my brother has told me it doesn't sound all that much different except for the actual paramedic qualification. They have the book thing as well but because of their experience rarely have to use it. Most of the people according to him have been in a car for years prior to taking a 911 position. Must be the last kick at the can before retirement I suppose.

SO are your emergency dispatchers there classed as "police" as well, and have "titles"?

Here, they are 2 totally different entities. No uniforms, and no "titles" either for dispatchers, and their pay is nowhere near rate of pay for an actual police officer.

They are called emergency operators.

I don't know how it is where Peter is, but for us here we have titles (Deputy, Corporal, and Sergeant...and our people in command over the dispatch center are our Captain and Lieutenant). A friend of mine left the police department w/ 8 1/2 years experience...he was making $2 per hour less than I was w/ the same amount of experience.
