Extreme couponing goes against the intentions of coupons in the first place. It will eventually stop because people abuse the intention. How do the grocery stores make money if everyone starts buying the whole store off with coupons? They will go out of business. Also, it seems that if there is a discount sale on an item, you wouldn't be able to further discount it with a coupon to make it free. You have to be a stupid motherfucker of a manager to allow that.

*looks around* Is this the debate forum?

I don't do couponing unless it's something I need... I think it's kind of silly myself.

I agree, extreme couponing (keyword extreme, I am talking people who never pay a penny for anything and sometimes get a cash refund from the store) is a bacteria for which manufacturers/business owners will develop an antibiotic.

The math doesn't add up. Coupons are intended to trick people into spending more, on average. I see it all the time with Ulta. 3 dollars off a 10 dollar purchase, but they make their products 2 for 8 dollars, 9.99 dollars, or 3 for 9.99 dollars. You have have to buy twice what you intended to in order to reap the benefit of the coupon.

Situations where people are cleaning house without actually paying for anything additional doesn't make any business sense. I'm sure we will see changes in this craze.

fuckin' a i cannot believe somebody else understands the manipulation of it. it's only actually saving if you have a set standard of spending and donnot change that standard...i think it's really just the exhileration of getting free shit that you donnot need.

on one show it showed this lady that had a stockpile of all this shit she doesn't need like 5,000 boxes of cereal. it's a trophy to them rather than donating it to people who could use it. if they're going to be idiots they should atleast have an intelligent or compassionate outcome with it.

I agree. In some cases it's really rather sickening to watch, but I think some of these people are mentally ill to some degree.

I had a woman come through my line a few weeks ago w/a $3 off coupon for a certain brand of makeup. Her item was $2-something. She was rather pissy when I told her I couldn't accept that coupon unless she bought another item as we don't give change back on coupons. HELLO?????

Unless it's an instore coupon the stores get reimbursed the amount of coupon from the vendor.. so it's all good.. the store makes money, the vendors move their products and you get a good deal? I don't see the issue here..

I tell you, I give cashiers (the good ones, and they know who they are) so much credit for dealing with these people on a daily basis. The entitlement, the obsession, everything is life and death, 40 cents, and it's YOUR fault if they don't get it. SMH

You don't have the concept of how coupons work. The manufacturers reimburse the stores for the cost of the coupon. So while the store may have had some sort of "loss" (costs for paying stock people, someone to ring the items), the loss is minimal, its not like they lose what they paid for the product. They only lose on any mark up they may have added to the cost of the goods.

I don't get why people are all worked up over someone taking advantage of the couponing system when we have people sucking YOUR tax money dry on welfare and food stamps who could otherwise be working. This statement only applies to those taking advantage of that system, not legitimate people, which only makes up for a fraction of the people not abusing the system, same applies here. Not everyone has 40 hours a week to clip coupons and go shopping.

Someone's getting fucked in the end. As I previously mentioned, extreme couponing defies the intentions set by the grocery store and manufacturers standards. I understand manufacturers have overstock, but they're actually taking a hit when they don't make any profit off these goods. It's bad business.

Do you know how much product gets tossed in the end? way more than what the couponers can get for cheap... In the end it works..
