I always find if weird when gay people want to join a religion whose god is clearly homophobic.

i find most of the Christians i know are very moderate unitarian types who whilst they still ove their Christ and his teachings of compassion, love and respect recognise that scripts written thousands of years ago are not always relevant to modern day life, as such the bible passages quoted dont worry them
