OK.. First of all your art work from what I have seen is fantastic. I am not in that field so I could never compare to that BUT I am in business for myself..

Rules of business..

1) Customer is always right
2) You Never have to do business with anyone but of course you won't make money
3) Customers will NEVER be 100% happy with what you offer.. I have never had a customer 100% happy with what I do for them.
4) Patience and good positive dealing with customers will get you much more business then ragging on them.
5) Getting details in a contract can save you headaches, including details of what needs to be done and payment.

When it really comes down to it, being in business, it's all about customer service and making your customers happy while protecting yourself.. Word of mouth can gain or lose you more customers while not being taking advantage of..

I really think you do great work and I think you could build a great business of this.

Dana after working for Northrop Grumman for 4 years with non graphic people asking for graphics to put in their manuals
Every single time I made something they tore it appart with their own ideas which is cool except they couldnt draw stick figures
I want to make them happy but they never gave enough detail upfront of what they wanted cause they didnt know
but after you make something it opens their eyes up and they want to start putting changes after changes after changes
you have to explain this to them upfront and tell them you charge for changes be able to give them ruff draft only up front
let them mark it up and then make it and then charge for alterations some people will just go Awesome and that is it
some will be a pain in the boody

It is business and not fun and games

As stated you gotta swallow your pride sometimes if you want to be successful.

Can't state it any clearer or better than what Francis posted.

People think if they own a business they are the boss. Those who make it prosperous understand you never are the boss. The customer is the boss always.

Now that is not to say I don't have people I refuse to work for. That is a matter of survival also to root out those that are not worth it. I won't take on a job unless I am comfortable. But I have an old business and can afford to be a bit more picky than some.

I know it's a business. I do. But it gets annoying when people want a million things done and turn around and say something it too much.

That is why you have a contract which spells out everything

Builders make a fortune off of change orders. You can do it ala carte where you tell them each edit costs X dollars or include at a higher cost X number of edits with any beyond that costing extra

I like that one much more than the first one you did. It is easy to ready what it says where the first one you had to look harder to figure it out. At least for me anyway

Nice job

I agree with Allen.. I fly out to cities because they want to change a display from 3.5" to 4" and then back.. But it's worth up to 1M to me and my company who cares and that means they are still looking at my product. Its part of business..

I also agree that both look great but I guess it's up to the customer which one he will be happier with. Probably neither will make him totally happy, but at least you will have shown him you are flexible to his needs..

Good Work.. :thumbup

Can I just interject and say this...I work in a business where someone can literally yell at me on the phone and call me any name in the book and I'm not allowed to hang up on them. Not only that, but I still have to be nice to them. So yeah...just learn to eat a little humble pie and deal w/ the customers. I think this is where your negativity is going to bite you in the ass.

Oh I don't say anything to people... Think of this as merely an outlet to release irritation. I'd do it on Facebook but i have folks that I've done work for on there.
