I do think it's funny when the tv and newspapers talk about "real women" with the emphasis on "real" as a euphimism for "fat."
I didn't think your body shape or weight determined your validity as a women, but clearly, I was wrong.

It's funny with inspirational quotes, every single one of them can have an exact opposite version that's just as "true".
But anyway, I never saw myself as a curvy girl...I have a decent rack but I'm built straight up and down for the most part, I was just always fat on top of it. Nothing to be proud of here :\

Hips and boobs look great though!

Of course, every one knows what they look like now given your Scarlett Johansson admission ;)

You should become the next Gok Wan to counter that mainstream media perception

Slender or curvy should be a preference to the person. I find the female form can be attractive whether one or the other. Female or male there is a point where thin or thick is an extreme. I think the push should be for healthy, not everyone is meant for the same body type.

Those of us that don't need to gain weight are programmed by our mass media to hate those that do.

If you are not a size 0-6 you are not worthy. That is the message we are bombarded with. It's rather old & tiring yet I don't see it changing anytime soon..

I grew up with it and now I see my own daughter deal with it. She's fortunate because she's not 'chunky', but still thinks she's 'fat'. Part of it is puberty. Part of it is the media aimed at her. Helping her to have a positive self-image isn't always easy, but doable. :) I agree that it's about 'healthy'. Whatever size you are, if you are in good shape that is all that should matter.

It's just another divisionary tactic if you ask me. Keep women bickering amongst themselves instead of coming together as one and ruling this planet!:ninja

I know I've allowed myself to be programmed to think every very overweight woman should be trying to lose weight. It's so annoying. They may be happy, they may not WANT to "get on a diet". I think I felt that way about myself when I was, like everyone thought "I hope she's trying to lose some of that"...it's just wrong though.

I think skinny women are equally stereotyped by "curvy" women. I guess "curvy" is the new BBW?

Like everyone else has said in this thread, if you feel comfortable in your own skin, who gives a fuck what everyone else thinks? Statistics don't lie though, you are more likely to have health issues if you are extremely overweight. That is not a jab at people who fall into that category, it is a fact. However, that doesn't mean you need to be a size 0 to be healthy. Plenty of women at size 10-14 are healthy. No one needs anyone to tell them to be losing weight. That is a choice the individual should make on their own.

Yup. You're a hottie. As are pretty much all the women here. But I am biased towards your sports team affiliation. :D

Ok here's what I think, because I'm bored:
For the record I really admire Scarlett's overall size and shape...not too thin, soft and feminine.

Skinny:

Fit:

Curvy: Or Sofia Vergara types

You can be skinny and have curves it is what your hip to waist ratio is also and where you put the weight on .. if your body type not build like that even if you put more weight you will not look curvy... few more extra kilos nothing wrong with that and i believe some women look hotter when have some extra kilos on... i guess because of the body type they got ... does make them look much nicer .. just what i hate is when people say REAL women and if you skinny they say you not ... but is it what real is.... the different sizes and shapes of the body.... not all thin are starve themself and not all over weight pig out either ...
