Islanders are like the Giants/Jets of the NFL, its too bad too because I remember when they were good...Phoenix was a team that should never have been....its too bad because they did have a good idea...

Gary Bettman is evil. He continues to drag the league down by not letting people with real money buy teams and move them to better markets.

I wouldn't send the poor teams to better markets, just shut those franchises down completely......

I wonder if a season will ever go by when we won't have to hear about what a horrible decision it was to move the Jets to Phoenix and try and rejuvenate the franchise.

Talk about beating a dead horse...

Why the fack can't he buy a team and move it out of a market that is dead in the water ? One answear Gary "never played hockey as a kid" Bettman does not like him. Why kill a francise ? Move it to a successfull location and make revenue from it.

My argument has zero to do with Phoenix. It was a good idea at the time. Winnipeg let that team walk. It's there fault.

It's not really you I was directing that at. ;) It's the people who talk about shutting down franchises like the Coyotes. They deserve a chance with an owner that will allow them an opportunity in the market they're already in before someone decides the team should be moved somewhere else.

They have been there since 1996 I think. Time is running out I would say. It is a shame because they are a good hockey team. Loosing Brezgaloff (sp?) is a big loss in net for them. I am pretty sure they are yet to make money as well. They also need a new arena as well ? So like I said things are starting to stack up for them.

They don't need a new arena, the just got one a few years ago.

Bryzgalov, while a good goalie, BLEW the playoffs for them last years. LaBarbera is a decent goalie when he's granted the confidence and can actually play.

And yeah, they've been here since 96, but they had to share what is now US Airways arena with the Phoenix Suns until they built jobing.com arena, so they were having to pay fees to the owner of that building all the time on top of the fact that that arena was designed for basketball, not for hockey, and therefore couldn't even allow much more than like 15,000 people to be in attendance. Then, they were owned by a company who wound up selling the team to Jerry Moyes who wanted absolutely nothing to do with owning a hockey team and tried to file for bankruptcy secretly so as to make a profit off the team he didn't even want.

The Coyotes have never had a fair chance. While Gretzky was a great player, he was a horrible coach. With Tippett heading the team, and a competent owner, the team has a chance. I know things are stacking up against them. I may have been young when they moved here, but I've been an avid Coyotes fan since their move in 1996. I know the struggles the team has had to face, and they've been fighting an uphill battle for 15 years. Give them as fair of a chance as any other team in the league, and I bet you they will succeed.

I heard they own Gretzky millions as well ! That is a tough situation for sure. I hope they stay there for your sake. Seems like you truely care for the team. Is there alot of fans that go to the games ?

Attendance has gotten better, but that's not saying much. :p Their home opener against the Jets is pretty well sold. A lot of the people at the games are unfortunately for the opposing team though, snow birds and all. :p

If they were not making the playoffs do you think attendence would drop of even more ?

I'm sure. There was a drop in attendance when they stopped making the playoffs several years after they moved here. But, Tippett is moving them in the right direction, as they made the playoffs the last two years. The other problem they're facing right now is just the uncertainty surrounding the future of the team. A lot of people don't seem to want to invest their time in a team that will probably be sold off and moved elsewhere.

If I won the lottery, I would buy the Coyotes. :D

Does not help that you always play Detroit in the first round either.

Haha, that's very true. They are a tough team to beat. Some argue that if Doan hasn't been injured two seasons ago, we would've probably beaten them. And..well..last year..like I said..Bryz blew it. I'm hopeful for what they can accomplish this year.

Little known fact: The entire Coyotes fanbase actually posts in this forum. It's bot a good idea to piss the two of them off. :ninja :p
