Occupy Wall Street! Big Protest in New York

Not seeing much about this in the mainstream media. Reports say protesters number over 1000 and some say as many as 10,000? Do not know for sure, but I like it. It's about time we American's stood up and protested the sorry financial condition this country is in, and started bringing some attention to Wall Street - who owns our politicians and hence controls our country.

I'm hearing about some beat downs of protesters and such. Wonder how long this will last?

Also hearing the "authorities" have blocked wireless communications around Wall Street. Big brother right here in the United States.

It doesn't surprise me that the mainstream isn't covering it much and when they do it's to downplay it.

I read that attendance was upwards of 50k the first day. Whether that's true......

It amazes me that with all we have witnessed these past three years, for that matter the last ten years, there are those who remain perplexed as to why a ragtag coalition of 18-30 something protesters should be targeting Wall Street of all places.

I am further amazed that these protesters stand accused of being socialists, communists and anarchists. Let me remind those who are challenged by these events, that the people who are being cuffed, maced and bullied are not the wall street bailout whores who have made a giant clusterfuck of the American economy and turned the country into the hypocritical financial fiasco that has become the laughing stock of the rest of the world.

I agree with the writer. It is amazing how this movement has been ongoing for 10 days now and barely a peep from the elite media...the presstitutes. Tea Party rallies (a movement I whole heartedly supported at it's inception before it was coopted by the corporatocracy)...Tea Party rallies with less attendance and certainly less sticktoitiveness have gotten national press. Unlike the teapartiers who spend a day or a few hours in front of state capitols, these folks are commited to several months day in and day out. The youth of this country are the ones who are going to have to right the wrongs of their predecessors. Peaceful protest is a necessity and this movement should be supported by all of the 99%.

Don't be deceived, this is not a protest with partisan roots, it is a protest like the original tea party movement that is supported by people of all political persuasions. It must be understood that in order to effect change, the people must find and be united through their common interests. A common interest for us all is the burden that was laid on us all by the leaders of this country, the Federal Reserve along with the powerful banking and corporate lobbies. This onerous burden far exceeds that which was being placed on the colonists prior to the War for Independence. We should all be uniting in this movement and supporting any offshoots in our home states.

I saw a call go out on Reddit yesterday for them to all wear Polo's & Khakis today. That way when people see these folks being abused by the police they'll look more like 'normal' folks and not like 'hippies'.

Somewhere is a picture of 'the rich' watching the protest from their balcony 'toasting' the protestors w/champagne. A "let them eat cake" moment? How quaint.

Still no real mention in the msm. But still all over the indy news blogs. How sad when there is major coverage overseas of this while crickets chirp here. Telling????

It is NEVER the fault of the police EVER. It's always those pesky citizens excercising their first amendment rights.
